this AM I engaged the HDC as usual going down a long steep road.
It made a growling sound and felt jerky.
Never did this before.
Should I worry?

Elaborate please.

In HDC, the gas and brake pedals can be pronounced making it feel jerky.. I'm pretty sure it uses ABS braking to control this..

Growling- meaning whining? Could be the ABS activating.. And depending on your speed, this too could be acceptable IF you are in a lower gear (drivetrain noise).

All bets are off if you are talking about metallic crunching and slapping. Or, a really loud howl like a spider monkey high on angel dust trying to escape from under your center console- it could be something in the TC or transmission..

Let us know..

What is the status of your pads and rotors? If they’re getting close to the end of their life, the HDC gets groanier (that’s totally a word, right?) and groanier. Replace them, and it works quieter (normal, light groans). I have no idea the reason for this, but maybe the worn/thinner pads just vibrate more?

Just had the state inspection done. Rear pads are 4mm.

The groaning/shuddering has decreased markedly but it still is sometimes there.

There’s no metal/metal screeching or grinding, just the low pitch groan and shudder.

Does it happen when you adjust your speed of HDC using the cruise control +/- set buttons on your steering wheel?

How fast are you going when you engage the HDC?

Usually around 15-20

You answered one of my questions. I thought you might be engaging HDC at too high of a speed (max is 50mph for engaging it) but that's clearly not it. Does it make sounds if you come to a full stop and then engage HDC?

Does it happen under any other braking situations in normal driving?
