Land Rover LR3 reliability - how does it truly compare?

We have again updated results for the LR3, to include owner experiences through June 30, 2010.

Other sources of car reliability information won't cover the more recent months until the summer or even fall of next year.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006: 127

2005: 111

Both are worse than average. Small sample size for the 2005.

The new LR4 is doing much better so far, with a score of 39, which is nearly "better than average," but this is based on a small sample size. We'll have a more solid result for it with the next update.

In a couple of weeks we'll start previewing the next set of results to participants. The preview results will be updated as responses come in.

As always, the more owners participate, the better the information we can provide to everyone. The 2008 is now just a single car short of the minimum needed to get it started.

Starting this month we have a new question to measure, as objectively as possible, the severity of a problem. Many people have been asking for reliability stats that weight problems by how severe they are, and once we have enough responses with the revised survey we'll start providing this.

Also, updated reliability stats this month.

As always, the more owners participate, the better the information we can provide to everyone.

We have again updated results for the LR3, to include owner experiences through December 31, 2010. Other sources of car reliability information won't cover the months since April until the summer or even fall of this year.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2008: 114, small sample size

2006: 123

2005: 126

All are worse than average.

The new LR4 is doing much better so far, with a score of 45, which is about average.

2006: 82, about average

2005: 115, worse than average

(Note: These numbers are lower than earlier partly due to a change in our methodology.)

What about later LR3 model years? I haven't seen anything for the 2008 or 2009 model years.

I've love to provide stats for all years, but not enough owners are signed up for 2007 and 2009. We have enough people signed up for 2008, but too few have been responding. The 2008 is currently three responses short for a qualified stat.
