Hello,

At my end with 2010 LR4, ongoing issue since purchase last year. Kept getting low coolant light, would add coolant as needed and then she got hot and reduced power. Immediately pulled to curb and called tow. Replaced the coolant res tank with sensor in it, still showed low coolant, replaced all top and bottom lines and hoses, 2x’s chasing leak. Relaxed water pump 2x’s, repacked thermostat housing for 2nd time. New radiator those week. Keep in mind as I change one part I have to chase leak and it’s something else after pressurizing etc. so I ran dye after radiator replacement and thermostat housing is leaking again. It’s actually melting? Has anyone experienced this as I’ve ordered a 3 housing, Land Rover specialist just told me bad design and I’ve yet to find one made in a metal? Am I missing something? Any insight/help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards

Nullzy.

I understand DIY repairs can sometimes be frustrating, especially if you have a lot of variables.

From the beginning, did you diagnose the problem? it sounds like you were just throwing parts at it.

are you using reliable name parts? cheap parts have cheap quality.

also, you say after each repair, the system wont pressurize. without sounding ******...is it your repair method that is causing leaks? maybe not reassembling correctly?if new leaks are appearing after each repair, this seems probable.

I have not heard of a thermostat housing melting. there are plenty of plastic parts bolted to the block, none of which melt. did you get a cheap brand thermostat?

In addition to Daytonas comments above, how and to what pressure are you pressurizing the system? Is this just by running the engine or are you using some other means?

FYI, these trucks don't like aftermarket thermostats. Sad to say FoMoCo (Ford Motor Company) aka OEM is the only way to go.
