I did once find a YouTube video by a guy in Australia who replaced the S/S battery with a full sized auxiliary battery.

It was not a minor project...
The S/S battery is an Exide EK151.
Available numerous places, but I went with Groves Batteries, Cheltenham. They ship globally.
