Hello, I recently experience a overheating problem that turned out to be a cracked engine block so I had a local land rover shop put in a engine for me. I asked for the old engine due to the fact that aluminum goes for around 66 cents apound at some of the recycling places around here granted that it's clean and completely torn down. What does the engine block weigh? I have a 2002 land rover Disco> anyone know? Thanks Derek

You would get less than you would have to pay in core charges. Generally there is a $500 core charge on such a high cost item. If you keep the old one you have to pay for it.

I think the whole engine only weighs around 450 lbs.

Is there places that I can turn in the core for that kind of money?
