Oil Changes Every 25k Miles
Hi: I am new to this forum, but I've been a land rover owner since 1973.
i am amazed that all of you are not using AMSOIL 100% synthetic oil. I use it and I change oil every 25,000 (thousand) miles,or 40,000 Km. When I open the valve cover to do a major tune up, (valve adjustment, belts, etc, the works) all I see is OIL no black soot (carbon) as the byproduct of combustion and petroleum lubrication, it wears your engine out fast!
Presently, I drive a 99 disco II, 19 inch LR wheels, and I get 17.8 MPG. Roll up your sleves and do your own maintenance!
Of course, the mission of the dealership is to connect a vacuum to your wallet, so you have the feeling of belonging to a select group of "Land Rover Lifestyle" suckers who wave at each other when they see another LR wagon in town.
Please, don't take my word, just go to amsoil.com or go to any serious racing page and see what lubricant they use, specially in extreme weather conditions.
Pamper your wagon, use synthetic oil and thumb your nose to the dealership! take your lover to dinner with the money you save!
