Premium Gas?

Here's a thought...

What about octane boosters? Based on an earlier reply that stated all gas is originally 87 Octane and made into 93, is there any research showing that 87 with a certain Octane Boost additive ($2-3 a bottle) is as good, better, or worse than the average 93 octane?

The Rover's my luxery, so I don't mind paying for gas, but with a $0.20 variance between 87 and 93, it's a difference of about $4.50 per fillup. If an additive for $4 is better than just 93 Octane......

What about an 01 Disco

Do I need to run 91 ONLY in an 01 Disco? Dont have an owners manual so cant tell. Is 89 OK?

Are you up in the mountains? At sea Level? Typically, Premium fuel will be less octane at higher elevations - so Octane in premium in Chicago will be different octane in Denver...

well our 00 discoii dont like regular. it tells us if you know what i mean. so we spoil it with super (91 or higher octane) it loves it. how do i know. trust me it knows hehehe.

Im at sea level, Southern California. Go up to the mountains about once every couple of months. In cali we dont have 92 anymore...Also, I have about 51k miles on her.
