...well, they do help prevent door-dings by sticking out like that, so I don't mind that.

This winter I found a minor drawback of the steps--ice had built up on them, and when I opened the door and dragged it over the ice, when I slammed the door the lower door trim piece fell off. I hit it back on with my fist (after clearing the ice) and it fell off a few more times. Finally I put it back on with a heavy rubber hammer and it hasn't fallen off or rattled since.

I think the siode steps are a complete waste in truck that can lower itself for easy entry/egress with the air suspension. They actually make it more difficult to get in and out.

Yes, I think the sidesteps add little to no utility...aside from the aforementioned door-ding protection. I just liked the way they looked....
