I have a 1993 disco SE7 4.0 5 speed
recently I have discovered a little snafu
in 4th and 5th gear at about 50mph, and right around 2000 to 2500 rpm
seems like it runs real rough and the engine shakes
If I let up, it all stops, power on again, it is back
freaky
any ideas?

The same thing happened to my Pinzgauer! The culprit was a plug wire...........

I am no Rover expert though.

Vehicle speed sensor
The vehicle speed sensor is located on the side of the
Transfer box adjacent to the parking brake. The
sensor provides road speed data to the ECM. The
ECM in turn detects vehicle movement from the road
speed input and ensures that idle air control mode is
disengaged. Should the vehicle speed sensor fail in
service the ECM idle air control would become erratic.
The sensor also provides road speed data to the
electric speedometer and cruise control ECU.

I have noticed they are a little highter then others but tend to have everything..
you could also try British Pacific - I purchased my u-joint from them and they were half the price of others (same exact model # and all) (including Atlantic British) - but I priced several other things from them and seems the u-joints were the only difference
seems electronic things are pricy for LR's

heres some others you could check:
