Some years ago, when I was doing the standard maintenence thing on a '77 Porsche 911 I purchased, I bought Castrol synthetic oil. Before using it, I came across some info that stated that you should not use synthetics in an older engine, so I used standard Quaker State.

Now, I am planning to replace the oil on the '97 Disco 1 (140,000 on the odo) I recently bought. Any thoughts/advice on using synthetics?

I switched to full synthetic (Mobil One) in my 97 disco at 9x,*** miles, I currently have over 130k miles on it and no issue noted, other than in the winter it doesn't start as hard as it did before. So I guess this isn't an issue.
