Bought a set of Michelin Premier LTX at the local Costco.
I've only had them for a week and the rains are starting back in Portland so anxious to see how they do. I wanted a road tire for rain and treks to Mt hood in the snow. I weighed out going with the Goodyear Duratracs(which Costco doesn't carry) and was surprised they were not considered snow tires in the 19in size(?) Anyway, the LTX has been a highly and positively reviewed tire. Thus far they are very smooth driving on dry pavement. That was especially after the new lower control arms I had installed.
The Pirelli's I had previously didn't handle wet roads nor snow very well and wore quickly once the control arms started getting more and more noisy.
Yes the 19" Duratracs are only M/S rated and have a wear rating of 360. GY customer service told me they were designed specifically for LR, so they probably wanted some more road-friendly traits to go with the big tread. We have them on our RR and my wife loves them, they handle snow great, but we are not in the mountains and do not require the snowflake symbol for any roads here...
I am considering the Premier LTX for my LR3 now. I have Grabber AT2's now that are about done and have been great, but I am on road 95% of the time, so I am considering other options. Let us know what you think of them!
