Wipers malfunction

Greetings everyone. Any help greatly welcomed.
I have a 2004 Discovery HSE. Lately, when I turn on the front wipers, the one in the back also starts working, even if I dont turn it on. Do you know what could be causing this problem? What could be the solution?

From the Owner's Manual (you did read it, right?)...

"NOTE: When reverse gear is selected, the rear
wiper will operate either continuously or
intermittently in tandem with the front wipers."
