Mr. Bigs, I would've simply respected your opinon and moved on...but these comments: "I don't need to have a plastic HSE badge on my rig to tell everyone around me that I am awesome...." "...Let some other schmo who needs a car to help them feel better about themselves go buy the HSE." change the game, here.

Why do you feel it necessary to take a simple question and respond to it in such a way that you might insult the other half of respondents?

I bought an HSE because they are the ****. They are the TOP of the line, and I didn't want to compromise. I'd done that on my last rig (a 1997 Montero LS)...and I regretted it. So I saved my money, bided my time and waited for my HSE to get to WA from Solihul. I got everything I wanted in it, and nothing that I didn't want.

For those of you (not named Mr. Bigs) that bought an SE...that is a perfectly logical and smart choice. If not for my own psyche after the Montero Situation...I may've done the same thing. The LR3 is great in either badging.

I'm still struggling with why this is a thread? Especially in the technical section. This site is getting more and more muddied up with thread after thread after thread of banter. It would be WONDERFUL if we could actually get used to using the sections available for idle 'chit chat'

I only miss the better stereo in the HSE, otherwise perfectly content :)

Nothing personal my friend. Was not meant specifically at anyone. Simply my opinion. Each to their own. :hello:

Oh I know, Mr. Bigs....I was just playing the role of your counterpart. No worries.
@roverman: you are probably right about this not being in the right section but there are plenty of non-tech threads going and you could always simply choose not to read a thread, right?

HSE: stereo, lights, 3rd row, NAV, 19" wheels. Easy decision to go HSE when buying used... not much more $$ than the SE and a nice list of equipment I want.

Of course, as MRBigs states, the HSE badging also makes me superior to everyone, and that is very important for my self esteem and self worth.

Btw: Mr.Bigs your comments around those who have HSE are fascinating and would make for good conversation with one of your therapists. Let us know how that works out for you.

I've had both

Had an 06 SEV8, Tonga green first. It was a great truck, and had most options but was missing a couple of things that I now deem "necessary" in a newer model vehicle (i.e. bluetooth and NAV).

Traded that in on my current LR3, a Java black 07 HSE. My brother in law was at my dealer purchasing his 06 HSE, and we got a REALLY good deal buying 2 at the same time, so I couldn't pass it up. Biggest benefits for me so far have been the bluetooth and the much nicer sound system. I also made them swap the 18s from SE onto the HSE so that I wouldn't have that pesky tire problem.

I was looking for a silver LR.. with 7 seats. Then the HSE presented itself. Everything I wanted, good mileage, and good price. So I jumped on it. HSE owner only by opportunity. And when I want to make myself feel better, I ******** the fake rolex, the fake tan, and the fake Huco Boss suit and then hire the best looking ****** girl and strut around town. Pretending to be da shiat..But when I want a really comfortable ride, I take out my HSE..all real baby.

I think ZULU says it best "but when I want a really comfortable ride, I take out my HSE". For the value last summer, My HSE with everything except the Heavy Duty option (couldn't find one anywhere in 4 months without ordering new) couldn't be beat. Took it home for the price of many SEs at another dealer and barely more than the ones at this dealer. The options are of course, personal choices; but why settle for less. I hope everyone got the exact Landy they wanted, for the price they were willing or able to pay! ...and at the risk of talking trash and regretting it later: Mr. Bigs...It is understandable to over compensate in the blogs and threads for whatever issues you might be harbouring inside...I still have an HSE ;)
