We have a 2004 Range Rover HSE with 68,000 miles that we're looking to sell, as we buy a car with a third row. It's in great condition, but the check engine light is on, due to a temp sensor fault. The dealer is offering $3,500 because of the engine light, the trade in blue book value is $4,000. It's a great car for anyone who appreciates Land Rovers. Do you think its worth trying to sell it privately, or just take the dealer's offer? We have a baby on the way, that is accelerating our timeline a bit. Any advise is helpful.

What you gain in revenue by selling yourself will surely be offset with additional taxes in going that route. Trading in comes off the top of your purchase and saves you sales tax dollars.
