I bought a well known roof rack about six months ago. Today I received a $1,200 bill for failure of the seller to pay said bill. The roof rack did not even cost that much and I believe I paid for shipping. I don’t have the invoice anymore.

Question is - how much does it cost to ship a roof rack from FL to TX? 1,200 sounds fishy.

Thoughts?

Who did you buy the rack from? How is it your responsibility?

Voyager.

Liability is complicated, but the general rule is the Carrier will get paid under the law.

What does Voyager say about it?

Bottom line is you didn't make the contract with the shipper; Voyager did. You shouldn't have to pay for it.

Just got the letter this weekend. Will talk with them tomorrow.

Just curious on how much it costs to ship racks. Trying to figure out where the 1,200 is coming from.

You aren't being clear here. Yo usaid "said bill" what bill, who's bill, the carriers bill to the vendor you bought from?
And stop with the "well known" secrecy. What brand and what seller?

What it sounds like you are proposing is going on is the crazies thing I have ever heard of regarding issues with purchases gone wrong.

Also, you somewhere via credit card have something showing the item price you paid right? Often places will say "shipping included" and you just pay a flat amount. You have no idea, nor care, what portion must be used to cover their cost to get it, or drop shipping, etc.

I can tell you I'd put $100 bet on this being a scam or confusion from whoever is hassling you thinking you were a business entity involved.
