On a recent trip from Boston to Buffalo and back I went through 11 lidar traps in NYS. V1 picks them up but was too late on one trap or I was just going too fast resulting in a $300 ticket. So I had a Blinder M27 installed in my A4 and so far it works great based on 2 lidar traps I recently drove through. With family summer trips coming up, I just ordered a Blinder M47 for the LR3. I was told that on the LR3 you need the M47 model with 4 heads up front to protect you. (1 head near each headlight and one head on each side of the front plate) Cost was about $450 and you can order them from Blinder USA at 866-622-7219. You may be able to install it yourself if you are handy with auto electronics but I will have a local auto stereo shop do my install. Be advised that some states prohibit lidar jammers and most guns indicate when a jammer is present. You can get more info on state laws regarding jammers at the "guys of lidar" website.

I knew that "or just slow down" comment was coming. Guess I better stick to the Audi forums for fast driving topics.
I just can't imagine driving across NY state for 400 miles at 65 mph. NY Thruway trooper = Toll collector. If they really cared about safe driving they would be out circulating in traffic not hiding out of site in the woods with lidar guns.

I agree with you Paul...I used to get so many damn speeding tix that I figured an overpass ought to be named after me.

...and the reactive approach to "stopping" speeders certainly has more to do with revenue collection than public safety. ...but the best way to fight it is to just bring the speed down. You can't win. Oh...and I think you can go a few MPHs over the speed limit. 70-74 ought to be okay. How much faster than that would you want to go and how much time would that save you on a 100 mile trip?

Not worth it, bro.

Drive across Texas sometime. At least you can haul a$$ down there. Kansas has an unexpected number of police considering it is huge and flat and like 8 people live there.

It's not about driving at higher speeds for fun, I can take my A4 to the track for that. It's about avoiding a ticket and the insurance surcharge that goes with it. When traffic is moving in the Boston area, normal flow is around 75 mph but with 60 mph speed limits the troopers still pick out whoever they want to give a ticket. Co-worker just got a ticket for going 68 in a 65 in Rhode Island. Last summer, going around 10 mph on a dirt road to a drive-on beach we saw the Jeep in front of us get pulled over by a cop on a mountain bike with a battery powered gun. On the way back I noticed there is a 5 mph speed limit sign at the start of the trail. Must be the poor economy, but it seems that the increase in speed limit enforcement is all about collecting revenue.

I wasnt ******* you out I was saying if you think driving across NY is long, try TX. You can drive from sunrise to sunset and only cover half the state... But the cops arent as bad there. Kansas is another really really long drive, but there are cops at every turn off and they will get you for like 2mph over. Must be their only source of income for the state.

Move to Florida, an LR3 can't go fast enough to get a ticket in this state!
