Well 300 miles over my oil-change interval so thought I'd quickly take care of that over the weekend (extractor, new filter, take the old oil to AutoZone, etc).
Well, the old filter wouldn't easily come out of the cap, so in the application of the muscle to get it it out of there, off came the...
Hey mates - Rover trivia tonight.
Yes the drain was clogged, **** whacker line to the rescue. But I wanted to trade notes about the outlet of this line, which as most of us know drains into, or rather behind, the right-side engine air intake grille.
The cleaned-out drain tube drained fast...
I’ve cleared our Lr3 and lr4 drains via the weedwhacker method several times.
But question… what purpose does the constriction serve at the end of the line? If I didn’t know better I would say it was designed to catch debris and cause a clog.
Seems common to all sunroof drain designs...
yep - We park outside and they get clogged easily. **** whacker line usually does the trick.
Roverrange: What is the advantage of the Volvo part vs Land Rover OEM?
timc930: How do you blow out the lines with air? The plastic trim does not allow a positive seal to the down tube.
The the LR3/4 under-hood drains seem designed to capture any and all tree debris and store it away in the wheel wells with an idea of future compost. I opened the hood the other day and saw a mouse duck down there so thought I'd better do a deep clean.
Any tricks for keeping junk out of there...
Umberto - You don't know this but your posts gave me the confidence to take the plunge upward away from our rusty old 2000 DII (no sunroof!) to the 2014 LR4 we're just a little bit too proud of. Thanks and best of luck with your new ride.
Ah well crap—reading the how-tos gives me a little buyers remorse but I'm getting old and my better half won't let me spend days outside wrestling Rover Fixes to the ground. Avoiding opportunity cost comes at a cost.
But with a much lighter wallet the rig is back with
new crossovers (both)...
Since we're discussing cost would you guys mind jumping in with thoughts about an estimate I have for the following ('14 LR4 with 116,00 miles). All preventative maintenance - I got no leaks whatsoever at the moment. The water pump was done at 40k. No evidence the crossovers have ever been...
Ha - was under the impression AB did not take returns on diagnostic tools.
As for the iLand - my experience with the tool itself has been fine - BUT as I said documentation is sparse and there are no helpful support pathways. I also have the IID-BT for the LR4 and yes that company projects a...
I have one for my D2. After not using it for a while I fired it up today just to check codes (After charging a battery that had inexplicably died) and the iLand got stuck on the “Diagnosis Pre-check“ Screen. It just sits there and says “Inspecting…”
The iLand is a bit of a black box if you ask...
