    Howto: DIY LR4 Alternator replacement

Hello all... alternator seems to have failed on my '14 @150k LR4. 11 years of devoted service by OEM alternator seems okay! :-) So I'm considering replacing with one of the high output alternators mentioned above. Question is — do battery cables need to be beefed up or anything else? Can the...

Aux radio button kaput—stuck on SAT

Hello everyone - '06 LR3 with the HK sound system. We've been enjoying playing iPhone tunes through the aux channel. But all of a sudden today can't access AUX through the radio console... With each push of the AUX button the radio should cycle through the two SAT channels then back to AUX...

    Mystery Headlamp Bulb

Interesting. I’ve got a 9 to 11 manual and a 12 to 14 manual. They both show the same (wrong in my case) illustration of the headlamp assembly. Truck is definitely a 14 according to the VIN. Perhaps a late 13 build, badged as a 14?

    Mystery Headlamp Bulb

ryanjl—thanks—the "other bulb" indeed came out of location #6 in the illustration below. I went out to the truck and, like, LOOKED at what was going on. You're absolutely right—the mystery bulb *is* the turn signal—in spite of being labeled "high-beam halogen fill headlamp" in the manual. The...

    Mystery Headlamp Bulb

Atlantic British had no idea when I showed them this... so before calling the dealer I'm trying here. Passenger-side headlights I noticed were out today. Never changed the LR4 bulbs before (although many times on the D2 — very similar access steps). The owner manual says Halogen headlamp...

    Gear selector compatibility

To close out this thread I'm happy to report that I've installed the gear selector which came in with the -AC suffix and it works like a charm. My fingers are crossed regarding longevity—seems like there are some fragile components within—sniffing around the internet yields stories of zip-tie...

Thanks Nechaken—You've given me the confidence to go for it.

    Gear selector compatibility

Friends I have the same problem at the moment (stuck in Park). I have the shifter out of the car—seems like an easy replace. BUT I want to verify one detail that hasn't been answered as far as I can tell upthread: What's the difference in the two-letter suffix in the part number, and does it...

    Oil filter cap

Well 300 miles over my oil-change interval so thought I'd quickly take care of that over the weekend (extractor, new filter, take the old oil to AutoZone, etc). Well, the old filter wouldn't easily come out of the cap, so in the application of the muscle to get it it out of there, off came the...

Passenger side air intake and front sunroof drain

Hey mates - Rover trivia tonight. Yes the drain was clogged, **** whacker line to the rescue. But I wanted to trade notes about the outlet of this line, which as most of us know drains into, or rather behind, the right-side engine air intake grille. The cleaned-out drain tube drained fast...

Best way to clean out sunroof drains

I’ve cleared our Lr3 and lr4 drains via the weedwhacker method several times. But question… what purpose does the constriction serve at the end of the line? If I didn’t know better I would say it was designed to catch debris and cause a clog. Seems common to all sunroof drain designs...

    Sunroof drain preventative maintenance?

    Sunroof drain preventative maintenance?

yep - We park outside and they get clogged easily. **** whacker line usually does the trick. Roverrange: What is the advantage of the Volvo part vs Land Rover OEM? timc930: How do you blow out the lines with air? The plastic trim does not allow a positive seal to the down tube.

getting that damn eco/stop start light off on the IP
