    11 LR 4 - left sunroof open

Mostly have a DOH! Moment, then shrug. My truck has been solid and reliable as a tank. Only spent 2k in maintenance and breakages in 7 years (water pump, weird brake issue) otherwise, it's the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned (touch wood, dance the hokey pokey, sacrifice a small creature on...

    Brake pads already worn?

My LR4 had an odd thing happen. With the brakes only on the right side, the pad wore down only on the outer side. The sensor is on the inner side so I got no warning. My rears wore down and started grinding the rotor. Replaced both rear pads with rotors. Three weeks later, the right front...

    Battery replacement

I just bought a Duracell 790CCA. It has a 4 year free replacement warranty, then a ten year prorated warranty. Strangely, the 800 CCA Duracell (more expensive) only had a 5 year replacement warranty. I'll take the 4+10pro None of my batteries seem to last more than 3 years.

    Battery replacement

What battery did you buy? Mine is going now (second one.. First was replaced by dealer, but it's now out of warranty) it's an odd looking battery to me...

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

Just after figuring out where the service menu was (for some reason I was looking in the centre console main screen hidden menu?) I checked it, and it said "information not available" and the display for oil was empty. Started to freak out. I could be out of oil, or the sensor for displaying the...

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

The service manual states to loosen the filter four turns and then suction the oil then change the filter. Question to original poster: Step 15 says check oil with dash computer. Does this mean just verify you don't have a low oil warning light or something else?

    Towing questions.

Can-am RV in London, Ontario. They have a guy there named Andy. He lectures and writes articles world wide on towing and hitches. He pulls a 34' airstream classic with a Jaguar XJ!!! Andy is the master. Everyone in North America asks him for advice. Denver area, I have no idea. I know a...

    Towing questions.

We don't have a lot of rock trails, so I've never been worried much about dragging it. That being said,it does affect the departure angle, but some good spotting, and adjusted driving habits will help you avoid high-centering the rear end. I've dragged it high centred over some mud ruts, but...

    Towing questions.

What's the OD of your tire? You may be able to get away with it. I run 19's with Johnson Rods cause we actually off road it too. My OD is 32.something" I was considering mounting the tire on a roof rack (frontrunner makes a nice one as does voyager) with the tire mount options.

    Towing questions.

Long story short. Don't exceed 550lbs on the tongue. Unless you want to get creative... We went to a towing specialist who had done a lot of work with Range Rovers, Land Rovers, etc. They installed a permanent Curt hitch and did some reinforcing of the hitch and rear of the truck to...

Anyone install an electric brake control?

Yes, it is that easy. I moved the controller from the left knee to the upper glove box for a more stealth look, as I was always bumping my knee on it... I used the TruControl Gold II from Hensley hitches... look them up - they make Prodigy's look like kiddie controllers. You tell it the...

Anyone install an electric brake control?

Easiest thing in the world. Don't pay a dealer to do this - you;'re just throwing your money away. It uses a Ford F150 brake controller connector, and is located above the brake pedal. You loosen a piece of trim with two screws and plug it in - the tuck the trim back up and run the cable to the...

    Got My LR4 STUCK!

As you found out - everything can get stuck... turning the steering wheel back and forth may have helped a bit, but ultimately, you need to be prepared whenever you leave the pavement. Sand ladders, recovery strap with lots of spring, x-jack or some other type of offroad jack, shovel, gloves...
