Interior Lock button non-functional and LED off on interior driver-side front door (2013)

Hi all, my front driver-side interior lock button isn't working and the LED doesn't turn on. Everything else about the locks work great. I took apart the door and it looks like I'm missing a cable. There's this grey cable from the door's wiring harness that goes into a grey connector, but the other side of the connector looks like it should have another cable plugged into it or a wire coming out of it (circled in red).



When looking online, I can't find the part number, but when I found the interior door handle assembly (AH2222601AC) on eBay, I found the door handle assembly WITH THIS CABLE (see image below) that looks like it plugs into the grey connector, or maybe the grey connector and the wire are supposed to be one piece/assembly.



My questions:
1. What is the part number of the wire that I think my car is missing? ChatGPT says its 100044659 but I can't find that part for sale (unless I buy a used internal door latch assembly that has the cable with it), and the part number doesn't find any results on Google.
2. What is the purpose of this part? The other end looks like it slide into a housing on the top of the door handle assembly, but doesn't make any electrical contact with anything.
3. Could the part somehow be related to the LED's not turning on and the lock button not working? ChatGPT says no.
4. Why wouldn't my car have this part?!

Other detail: when the car is powered on, the wire going into the grey connector has two pins, and I measure 12 V across the pins (which ChatGPT tells me is correct).


Landrover LR4 Discovery 4 model year 2013 (manufactured in February 2013). Same model from 2010-2016.

I have no experience with that part, but you could buy it used and try to install it. Report back what you find!

I was hoping I could buy the wire/harness and not another door handle assembly! That’s why I asked my first question!

We have a scrapped LR4 here.
I pulled the driver's door panel off.
Unfortunately, it is pre wired like yours. No LED light.

Lock button and ambient LED lights are not connected.

I have that assembly. I have the grey piece. I don’t have the wire with a black sheath, with one end a weird black piece of plastic that slides into the top of the assembly, and the other end either goes into or is already part of the removable grey piece at the bottom. The cable I’m talking about is in the pictures.

You’re right! I just watched this video and you’re correct. So, any idea why the lock button shouldn’t be working?

Its probably not a big deal, but the doors do look nice at night lit up with the wood grain and the handles are sharp too.
