Dash lit up like a Christmas tree out in BFE

No, ktm525 I'm not trying to create drama. Why do you ask?

Dash lit up like a Christmas tree out in BFE

I'm not sure its rodents biting on wires anymore. Along with that, I think pulling one relay, pushing on the fuse box and dorking around with it and then going from no ignition at all to the ignition turning on but no starter was completely unrelated. I hiked back to it a few hours later to...

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

They are the original make/model but not original tires. They had probably 10k mi on them when I bought it, plenty of tread left. One big advantage of the factory tires is when I'm on private roads in Mexico I can do 115 MPH to beat those people that want to drive 5 under, but when I go to pass...

Dash lit up like a Christmas tree out in BFE

The other day while cruising on a forest road I was going a little too quick and slowed up over tree roots and the ABS, Brake and Hill Decent Control went inactive. It seemed like a wheel sensor problem, but the air suspension dropped to normal mode. I turn the ignition off then back on, raise...

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

Been off-roading a lot exploring through the mountains looking for places to camp and enjoying time off. Today the OsmAnd app took me on a wild goose chase and it seemed like I was on another ATV trail that was pretty fun, but when I got back to camp I noticed a bulge in the left rear. I've...

    Surprising oil usage

I drove North (250mi?) hitting the highest speeds ever in the LR4, and didn't making any changes and before leaving the gas station I set a timer for 10 min., checked the oil level and it was a 1/2 quart low. I pulled out to a level looking area and set a timer for 30 minutes, checked again and...

    Surprising oil usage

In the D4 Owners Hand book it says to wait 10 minutes with the ignition off before checking and to check it when hot. It also says when filling to wait 5 minutes for the new level to register and to leave the ignition on Checking the oil level Check the oil level weekly when the engine is hot...

    Surprising oil usage

Land Rover has rebuild kits for $75 each, but I'm hoping the low oil is user error and I'm not sure how to validate if the PCV's are functioning properly. It would be great to test them. I might try measuring the oil in a store parking lot with a 10 minute timer, figure out a way to determine if...

    ARB Fridge

Are you set on the slider? I put my refer in through the passenger door or through the tailgate if I don't need to load gas and water cans. Then I simply tie it down. Its a bit heavy but taking out the water makes it a lot more comfortable. I didn't want the slider mount because it would get in...

    Surprising oil usage

The PCV valves are original, ~108k mi now. Replacing them luckily looks straight forward, but I've never dealt with the PCV valve before on any engine. There is oil/dirt residue that wasn't around the port previously at 101k mi. The oil/dirt around the oil filter housing wasn't present either...

    Surprising oil usage

I checked the Wix air filters and took a pic of it along with a shot of the amazing flashlight (Acebeam L35), it works well to see any animals stalking me at night as well as inspecting the engine, like cracks on the serpentine belts for example. I'd guess the oil is clean enough for now based...

    Surprising oil usage

I too think there would be evidence like a drip or oil circles the tailgate from oil in the exhaust, but I haven't seen any oil. I've been inspecting the front of the engine with a bright **** amazing flashlight and its all good. No drips on the ground. The vacuum pump is not leaking, valve...

    Surprising oil usage

I searched around the forum and didn't see any threads about oil usage, but did find one for how long to go between oil changes and I'm now sold on 7,500mi. I started overlanding in a new environment and my oil usage went up to 1/2 qt. per 80 miles round trip into town and back plus a few...

Belt began squeaking above 1000rpm...what is this?

Is that belt sagging? Your tensioner is probably broken if the belt isn't tight and that would be the cause of a squeaking belt. I'd get a new Gates brand belt and a Land Rover tensioner.

    Disabling door sensors?

Thank you!! I initially thought about safety where a case could be the door was open and then I back the door into a tree folding it back, but I've never done that before and I don't even reposition with doors open for that very reason. Then this morning I realized the door latches also work in...

    Disabling door sensors?

The reserve capacity on my Land Rover brand (Interstate) starter battery started to dwindle and after opening the doors 3 times after a long drive the starter was noticeably slow. That was even with a battery tender Jr on it. I need to throw that thing away so I don't keep using it lol. The new...

My LR4 experiences in terms of mechanical issues that keep piling up

I searched for all the problems before buying my '12 July 2023 and decided if I had every one of them I'd still be fine with it. If you haven't replaced the air compressor that might be next on your list of repairs. Mine was replaced at about your mileage. Around 80k+ mi the timing chain might...

    Persistent P0430 on my 2012 5.0

    Updated sources for skid plating?

You might be surprised at the factory armor (aside from rock sliders). I'm still new to off-roading in the LR4, but have been getting a lot of seat time in the past months. I miss-judged a rock last week thinking I could clear it and holy cow it hit damn hard and lifted the front end at 5-8 MPH...
