there could be an issue with the alternator. but, it's more than likely the loose cable connectors weren't allowing the battery to charge fully. as guy mentioned. with the LR4 running, the tester only reads the alternators ability to charge. so, if that's reading fine, then your alternator... -

issue has been resolved. it was the alternator i had put in in January. new alternator installed under warranty at no cost to me fixed the surging, pulsing headlights, and relay clicking. -

a Ranger Rover or an LR4? which do you have? guessing the Range Rover since it has the 4.4. regardless, GapID tool is the way to go for either vehicle. -
Used SCV8 engine and trans assembly
a SC V8 in an LR4? that would be fun. i drive my daughter's SC 4.2 V8 Range Rover and it is noticeably quicker than my 5.0 V8 LR4. wonder if the drive train and brakes on the LR4 could handle the added hp. -

thanks. I just switched that relay with the one next to it for the rear heat. we'll see if there is a change. but, it really does sound as if the clicking relay is behind the lower glove box. what does relay R1 control? -

recently started hearing a relay behind the lower glove box clicking while driving. when the head lights are on and the relay clicks the headlights flicker very noticeably, almost like they are flashing. could this this be relay R1 in the fuse box behind the lower glove box? i'm terrible at... -

they are the AT Trail. 5 ply. 2 polyester, 2 steel, 1 polyamide(nylon). Edit: the sidewall is only 2 ply polyester. the tread is 5 ply. -

currently running 255/60/19 Falken Wildpeaks on my 2011 LR4. they have held up well. no difficult off roading. just some river rock roads and creek crossings at the farm in the Midwest. no balancing issues and handle nicely in wet conditions. -

I think it was the Castrol Edge 5w20. for what it's worth, the engine is still running more quietly. I'll probably use Restore and Protect on at least one more oil change. I wish they made a 0w40, as well. i'd love to run it my P38 and D2. Edit: why are you running such a heavy oil in your... -

curious if the wire rerouting is necessary. there is enough slack in the wire loom of my 2011 for me to move brown/blue wire over to the post in the fuse box. -

yeah. seems to be working so far. which likely indicates, i think, a small head gasket leak into cylinder three that only leaks (for now) when the system is fully pressurized. -

another update. after noticing the misfire returning on cylinder three back in April, i decided to run the LR4 with the expansion tank cap not fully tightened. i removed it and then reinstalled it tightening it until it started to seal. then backed it off a little bit. been driving like this...
