The 265-65-18 (31.5") is right at the point where you should consider having the lift.
That size has been a popular choice and generally its done with the lift because it looks and functions better with the additional space.
Here is an example on a full size Range Rover with a Johnson Rod...
Got some follow up information on how the wheels/tires and lift are working out along with some good info and a picture towing a trailer which is interesting.

I’ve been very happy with the Michelins – my first impressions relayed to Barry have held up. They’re quiet, ride great, and...

I know 18 inch wheels are in high demand and hard to find.
With 18's you have more tire selection and sidewall for off road use.
There are few choices, and the best wheel out there is the Compomotive PD 1881 from the UK. It's hard to get and I have put together a special arrangement with the...
LR4 Tires - Size Chart
Not worth trading in the 20's for 19's. I would stick with the 20's unless you are willing to go to 18. In that case I recommend going with the Compomotive wheels. With the 20's the 275-55-20 31.9 will give you a bit more sidewall.
You can see other options on my tire...
I'm running these on 18's but what makes this such a great tire for the 20's is the kevlar sidewall that provides more protection from pinch flats that I see with TG's on 20's. The AT Adventurer with kevlar has excellent off road and all season capability including snow.
Here is another option to consider:
Goodyear AT Adventurer with Kevlar. I think this is a much better tire.
Highest ranked in its category by Tire Rack.

I recommend the following two tires for 20 and 19 inch wheels for off road use:
1. Goodyear AT Adventurer with Kevlar 275-55-20
I own a set of these and they are great. Highest ranked tire in its class
on Tire Rack.

2. Goodyear DuraTrac MT 275-55-20

If you are experiencing rub with the larger tires or want to have more clearance and articulation for off road then install a Johnson Rod lift. I would not run 32 inch tires without a lift. Even with street driving you will get rub in the rear well when going over dips if you don't lift the...

Johnson Rods Lift Kit
Hey guys, just upgraded the rod lift to be 50% thicker stainless steel and with a wider grommet. These are more durable for taking on and off.[URL="http://johnsonrods.com"]http://johnsonrods.com
Best way to lift your rig. Here are some photos:

Glad to hear everything worked out. Look forward to seeing the finished product. Send me a picture for the website. Was that you ordering a second set?
It may be time for me to change out my compressor as well. Preventative maintenance is in order after six years of use! Keep us posted on what the outcome is.

Below are some instructions on how to do a hard reset. I am concerned however that your battery may be too weak and still the cause of the problem. How old is it?
As such, you might try what is called a hard reset. The purpose of that is to remove/clear/erase some of the trouble codes that...
If your system was leaking air previously then your air compressor may need replacement. That's generally the most common cause with leaking air. Not sure why after the dead battery the computer did not reset itself with the jump, however, this is a function of the computer system not the rod...
Height matters if you want to get larger tires. The ones shown here are 275-65-18 and are 32 inches. I would not accept the loss of articulation room and try to run this without a rod lift as you encounter problems. Increase the height and you will be much better off than forcing the...
Johnson Rods
Thanks Tonga,
The acceptance of rods in the market has improved tremendously over the last year to the point that many Land Rover dealers are ordering my rods and selling them directly to customers to upgrade!
Thanks for your support and to the other Johnson Rod users out there...
