Disconecting the ABS on a 94 Disco
Pull the fuse, disconnect the sensor. -
Dunlop Radial Rover R/T, Any experience?
You might have some rubbing on this tire at full compression (it's taller than stock), and you might have to adjust the steering bumpstops a little, because it's wider than stock by 10mm. Have heard good things about the Rover line of Dunlop tires. -
Shifter tape access
Use a think-edged flathead screwdriver, or a knife blade...it just sits in there, barely clipped in. -
Oil Light / Strange Tachometer
Prognosis: The patient is in "guarded" condition. I put everything back together, and refilled with oil, and things seem okay now. I'll be watching over the next few days for leaks and pressure drops, and noise. I'll update with more developments... Andy -

You're right -- I did drain it out each time. My wonder is if there was enough residual flush in the oil to affect lubrication. The pickup tube was pretty clogged and the 3-day-old oil was pitch black and sludgy....we'll see what a fill and drain today does. -

I dunno, I changed the oil today and dented the filter when I grabbed ahold of it to remove it...maybe those filters are getting cheaper and cheaper? :hmpf: -

Sounds basic, but do you have a shop manual or something that shows how it all fits together? Those are, I believe, pretty straightforward -- essentially, disconnect/remove/replace/connect. -
sunroof leak
On a D1, and I assume D2, there are drain tubes. Yours are probably clogged. Open the sunroof and look for holes -- cleaning them with compressed air or a long and flexible wire will probably do the trick. -

wierd idle problem
Do a search for stepper motor or IAC. It's mounted on the front side of the intake plenum, right by the breather hose that runs approx 3" between valve covers and intake. It's got a muti-plug in it, and two 5.5mm screws. Remove, soak/rub with carb cleaner, replace. -

question on offsets
IF you are replacing stock muffler and tailpipe with stock muffler and tailpipe, I believe it's offset on the intake end and centered on the exhaust end. But you can replace with anything that'll fit :biggrin: -

Stepper motor a/k/a IAC? Do a search and see if cleaning it helps. Is the air filter clean? Sometimes it's simple things... -

Old Discos were offset like that to allow for the driver's weight. Maybe they kept it up for the LR3?
