    your battery reads(when stationary) 12.61 V , that is a reading of a brand new unit: 6 cells x 2.1 volts =12.60. Then , after start up , if it reads 14.4 that is perfectly good reading out of a good alternator charging...if you have any fault codes , look somewhere else ...my two cents

    I would add a pulley tensioner replacement, while disassembled , since there was a TSB on it and a new one is improved and comes with a raised sides for a better belt placement.

Good working alternator should pull, under load, at least 14.25 and up...A brand new battery should read 12.60( six cells, each cell 2.1 volts=12.6.your alternator might be failing slowly , if it is only above 13 V, that is too low, as it should produce...

    It sounds like a typical Gear linkage being rusty .There is a HOW TO fix in the WIKI area on disco.co.uk website.Simple fix and cheap.Tranny slipping out of gear is what is sounds like from your explanation, coursed by a corrosion on the gear linkage screw underneath transmission.
