Unless you really want to mess around with new bushings to change how it rides, it's just not practical to press the bushings in and out. You would need to remove the arm and replace both both bushings and the ball joint. In my world it's just easier to replace the assembly. I have now done... -

AC Not Blowing Cold...Sometimes
Mine is fine, and not sure this applies.... On the 2002 Nissan Maxima there is a thermostat in air plenum in the dash that gets corroded. After I replaced that thermostat the A/C improved markedly. Same somewhere in the Rover?? Are your cabin air filters in good condition? -

Can you identify this electrical part?
Agreed, that looks like the connector from the windshield, there are 2 of these, one on each side. You can tell if the windshield is working by using your thermometer "gun" and by just touching the windshield - although you may need to wait until fall or winter depending on your location so... -

I would call that a dead bushing needing replacement. Drive 2-3 mph with foot on brake pedal but not pressing Brake hard Listen for a clunk coming from under you just in front of the seat If it clunks you need new bushings. I bet they were installed wrong - if they were tightened down without... -
