If you have GEICO auto policy, then its logical to add a mechanical breakdown coverage(I think in my case its about $11/month extra). See their website for details
I gots Geico mechanical breakdown with $250 deductible per incident. Never used it since mine is a 2011 with under 10k miles. A 7year/120k warranty (a good one) would be around $5.5k, or so
I don't worry so much about the mechanical aspects of it, but rather about the electrical/computer gremlins that can wreak havoc in your pocket book after the warranty expires.
So, it is 7 years or 100k/120k miles, whichever comes first...assuming you get an extended warranty
every major city has at least one non-authorized luxury dealership that sells high line cars at prices meant to undercut factory dealers. The problem is you may or may not pay a lower price yet risk to be taken for a ride, as in fact you'll be buying 'a pig in a poke" with little recourse...
$11k retail markup on top of your trade-in (or: sell outright) value?...
Herein lies the problem. Buyer(and in this case, seller) beware. Car dealership, as any capitalist enterprise, operate according to buy low/sell high principle. This principle applies to any high-line brand...
the thread-starter received $42k trade-in offer from an LR dealership on a car with $50k asking price. Authorized LR dealership tend to offer a bit more in trade value on LR's because they will re-sell them and to earn business.
Asking price has little to do with true value.
A new car takes at least a 20% depreciation hit the first year (read: the first minute) you drive it off; so, a $53k new car becomes an $40k value...draw your own conclusions about whether it's a good deal, or not regardless of whether it an HSE or base
For me it's an emotional affair: I like the square design+its uniqueness. (would love to have owned a G-Wagen, but $100k is a bit extravagant)
All-around performer, spectacular looks, imo
Silver and bronze
Black and blue look the sharpest on the showroom floor, but unless you live in snow and winter-free climates, and never take the thing off the road, are nearly impossible to keep clean
I am with davez26 on this; changing oil every 15k miles (or every 7500, as I do), is it really worth to save a few dollars once in a blue moon on a $60k truck and risk messing it up (to say nothing of the time it takes to DIY)?
The data on that website is of course "past sales". If inventory is low, or whatever other reason, nothing prevents them from trying to hold high grosses and giving only very small discounts in the present
