Hi Country Transfer case and Tank Plates..

I think so far I have everything he's made for the LR3 - he uses my LR3 as a prototype vehicle. Here are some pics I took: http://grendel.smugmug.com/gallery/6013404_bqJNP#376008378_9GiNc I think the t-case skid is well clear of the pipes. As you can see it ties in nicely with the gas tank...

    Replacing the LR3 with....

Those are really nice, and I considered one with the air suspension when I was looking at LR3's. If you decide to wheel it, please come back and post your thoughts - those still grab at me every time I see a nice one.

    wheeling the LR3

Nice pics. The last one looks familiar, I believe I have picked up my KLX250S there many times. But after a while all boulder fields start to look the same.... Guess with this snow we won't be hitting that stuff for a little while. My LR3 is still off for the bumper anyway.

    Trail ride in Boulder, CO

Switzerland and Sugarloaf are probably a good bet for something easy and non-nervewracking, but beautiful nonetheless. http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=124 http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=20 Typically I go up Sunshine Canyon from Mapleton Hill in Boulder into...

    wheeling the LR3

We'll definitely have to get together for a trail run. My LR3 is off at High-Country Offroad for some prototype work (bumper, tire carrier, not sure what else) so I won't get it back for a few weeks. I'll let you know when I do.

Land Rover gets grant to build new Rover

Since it's small and light, I predict LR1. I just hope it still has air suspension and low range, which might be tough with the weight goals.

    wheeling the LR3

Lefthand is a great place to go play - I live in Lafayette, east of Boulder. The only downside is that it can be a complete zoo on the weekends. Typically I only dirtbike up there then as places to pass two 4x4's can be few and far between. I assume everyone made it up to 5 points at least...

    Wheel fitment confirmation

Thanks, good info. Did you check the lug bolt (nut? can't remember what these have) shoulder? When looking into whether RR wheels would fit, it seems some years were exactly the same as the X5, and some were the same except the lug bolt/nut was square vs. rounded. Anyway, something to check...

    tire pressures 42 & 33

Good question. Is there a driveline bias - more power to the rear wheels by default?

    Watchin hoops

It probably does have the best resale in its class...of supercharged SUV's with air suspension and British heritage.

    Rovertym Announces LR3 Front Bumper!

Is the brush guard removable? Gonna be fun to change a headlight bulb if it's not.

Help on a possible problematic LR3 purchase.

I paid that much for a CPO 05 with 33k miles on it last spring, before gas prices went nuts and the economy cratered. Unless this is a loaded HSE that seems high.

    a/c flaps opening and closing

Mine started doing this last summer, after a lot of offroading. Took me a while to nail down what was happening to cause the sound. I was going to just accept it as part of the charm of a flatulent vehicle, but I guess I'll have them look into it next time it's in.

    Thoughts on faults

If you remember from last summer, I had a post or two about odd faults when offroading, when the car had been running for many hours. They would always go away with an ignition cycle. A few people suggested this might be the sign of a battery on its way out. Since winter started and I've been...

    Highcountry Sliders

    Cool, thanks for the correction.

    Highcountry Sliders

Looks like they are: This is jacking up one corner using the step bumper on the sliders. I didn't see any flexing or complaining from the sliders while I did this. I wanted to do another shot from the middle, trying to get the whole right side up, but after I took this shot I came to...

    Unsure about terrain response

I'd play with all the TR settings and see which one you like best for the conditions. I basically don't pay attention to the names and just think of them as options 1-5. WRT to throttle response I think they each do something slightly different. For example, for any offroad where I'm using...

    Highcountry Sliders

That's a good question, we did it with the tcase skid but if HCO did it with the sliders I wasn't there. I'll give it a try tomorrow and let you know.

    Highcountry Sliders

I have the HCO sliders; that's my black LR3 in his pictures. They have been quite tough for everything that I've done. As others have noted, one real difference between the HCO sliders and the RS ones is the additional coverage that the RS ones provide in the compressor area. I haven't seen...

    Snow driving tip

I'm not just sitting on the sidelines, what I posted is a cogent argument - you're cutting up a well-designed tire trying to get it to perform in a way that it was not designed to. Buy something designed for your conditions. As for fact-based, here ya go, this took about 10 milliseconds to...

    Snow driving tip

Posting a link from a company that sells siping as an addon doesn't quite make it fact. In general I think if you find you need to make changes to a tire to make it perform differently for your needs, you quite simply chose the wrong tire. Spacing, depth, and width of sipes will need to vary...

    Cooper Zeon LTZ 285/60/R18

This is my first winter with both my LR3 and the Zeon LTZ's. We've had a few snowstorms here in the Denver area, nothing huge but 5-10 inches here and there. Typical Boulder County strategy is to let the snow just melt over a few days, so there can be a few days of snow/ice to deal with...

    I'm Out shopping, HD Question

My 05 has the HD package. Not only is the locker nice, but a full-size spare is definitely worth it. I do a fair amount of wheeling and have had the locker noticeably kick in a few times. Would I have made it without the locker? Not sure, in one particular case - steep climb, creek bed of...

    H3 H3t

The H3t appeals to me because I could fit a few dirt bikes in the back. It was rumored when I was buying my LR3, and I wanted a new vehicle then so it couldn't really factor in. But, what others have said - icko Hummer styling, poor visibility, etc, all turned me off and made me decide not to...

    Incessant Brake wear warning chime

The dealer took care of it for me - turns out they had put the wrong sensors on during the CPO check. If the my dealer could mix up the parts, perhaps yours did too and gave you the wrong ones. Worth looking into.
