    Rear Locker worth it?

I would have to agree (I got the winch before I got the lockers on the Jeep, aka the money pit). Although I'm having difficulties locating the "behind the bumper" winch mount . . . . . seems the only one I found is no longer available unless you import it from the UK . . .. .maybe I'll put my...

    Rear Locker worth it?

Understood, I'll leave well enough alone . . . . . I'll invest in the right tires and armor.

    Rear Locker worth it?

Up until now, my assumption was that you could add an aftermarket locker, something like an ARB or ECTED . . .I really hadn't considered that there may be some electronics that could present challenges, but I'm still new to the whole LR world.

I hadn't considered that, makes sense. Does that then also mean that the compressor will run more often? I recall reading on the Johnson Rod site that frequent playing with the height may cause the compressor to overheat (I'm of course paraphrasing and adding some poetic license) . . . . I...

    Rear Locker worth it?

I read through your "paper" a couple of days ago (well done). I too have a lifted Jeep locked front and rear ('89 YJ, ARB's) and perhaps I need to do some trail runs before I make assumptions. Tires first (not a fan of the factory mini-van treads). Regardless, as DiscoMike noted, can't add a...

    Rear Locker worth it?

I didn't realize you could not add a locker . . . . kind of moot point, huh?

    Rear Locker worth it?

I have very little wheeling experience with my LR3, so I seek advice and counsel from the forum experts. My Jeep is locked front and rear . . . it made a huge difference in what I could and couldn't do with it. I bought my LR3 because I was tired of the spartan interior and lack of space...

What have you had break on the trail??

Great thread start . . . . I've not had my Rover long and I've only been able to take it on one trail ride thus far . . . . but currently I carry fuses, tire repair kit (ARB has a nice kit in a handy carry case), a 12V air compressor. My other trail rig has a much more complete parts list...

    Oversized Spare Tire mod

The rod mod is likely my next step (the LR3 is back in the shop to address a suspension fault). I've researched the past threads and there seems to be a variety of opinions, although there is also a lot of bonafide experience. I know I want a taller tire (to help protect the wheel on my...

    Oversized Spare Tire mod

Houm, In deep, untracked, snow the MTR's are really pretty good. They float well. On the hard packed stuff they mine-as-well be on ice . . .because the lugs lack siping there is almost zero grip. However, to be fair, I suspect one would see similar results on all Mud tires.

    Oversized Spare Tire mod

Snow has been one of my concerns. I ran Bridgestone Dueler AT's on my last Jeep SUV and they were marginal in the cold wet stuff (especially hard pack by the ski resorts). I had the first gen MTR's on a Wrangler and they were horrible when it got wet and cold, especially below freezing, bomb...

Easy care extended warranties???? YES??? NO???

I have SecureCare (I think that's what it's called), paid $2800 for a 3 year 75K policy, covers everything other than normal wear items. My deductible is zero if I take it back to the dealer and $100 if I take it elsewhere. I've had to use it twice. First for a tranny fault (would have cost...

Blackforestham, Was curious why you selected the DuraTrac over the MTR. . . . I'm in the market for new treads, live in CO, and was leaning towards the MTR's . . . . . . Appreciate any feedback.

    Tire tread differences

I know that when you're shopping for new tires, the tire shop folks always tell you to replace all four . . . . but I've always chalked that up to the tire sales person trying to up sell . . . . . I'm a firm believer in matching tread thickness. Though I do find it odd that the dealer (Land...

    Plus size tires and ABS

Understood, I'm an engineer and I have a 89 Wrangler with 37's . . . . . appreciate the advice. I'm likely not going to go bigger until next spring, so I have time to "learn" how to handle this thing. Took it on a pretty mild trail ride this weekend. I'm not 100% use to the seating...

Great advice, the HDC will still function normally, as designed, with the large diameter tires?

Appreciate the input, given how sensitive the electronics seem to be I didn't know if I was going to open a can of worms.

Do you regret keeping it past warranty?

I just bought my 05 LR3, bought the extended warranty plan via the dealer for $2800, had it one week, got a system fault, took it in . . . . parts and labor were about $1,000 . . . all covered under the extended policy . . . . I work on my Jeep constantly but the Rover's electronics...

    Tire tread differences

When I bought my '05, it had/has different tire tread depth (one looks new, the other three are obviously not), but I have to admit I've not had it long enough to gather any intell.

    Plus size tires and ABS

My plan is to purchase larger tires in the near future. I know there are potential issues with speedo calibration but are there also issues with the ABS or will it self calibrate? Appreciate any input.

    Problems With the LR3

I just bought my LR3 used, 2005, less than 24K miles. Had it less than a week and had to make a service appointment . . . the problem . . . . system fault, transmission options unavailable (only option on the terrain response knobby was "standard mode". the cause . . . . took them three...

    Aftermaket Air Filters

I've worked closely with the K&N guys over the years at a number of track day events, I've heard their schpeel probably a 100 times. Pvangura makes a valid point, a heavily oiled filter will cause problems with the MAF. On the flip side, an under oiled filter is bad news. Their re-oiling...
