2006-2007 GPS DVD Update - 1791 Hack Found

The LOADING.KWI file, which only exists on the newer map discs, is what forces the firmware upgrade on older vehicles. If it's not there, no update will happen. The part # for the "2006-2007" disc was YIW500210 (has the firmware update on it). The 2 older ones shouldn't...

    Accessory Outlet Charging

You'd need rewire one of the accessory ports... basically run a new line from the battery, bypassing the switched power. Sorry.

    Factory/dealer rosen DVD

There is no "factory installed one", so it's easy to get installed. You can buy both the OEM DVD system (Rosen) and the install kit from someone that sells Land Rover parts, including your dealer. YIP500350: LR3 DVD system (Rosen) VUB503142: LR3 Installation Kit You can attempt to...

To get new map discs, go to the official source: http://www.landroverusa.com/us/en/Owners/Accessories/Accessories%20Overview.htm Land Rover will re-direct you to Navteq's special site for Land Rover. A new "2007-2008" should be out soon, if not already...

    Child Safety Seat

They are just anchor points. I would agree a normal dealer wouldn't want the liability of doing a retrofit mount... but it isn't rocket-science. Anyway, LATCH really just exists for convenience only and, in theory, makes it easier to not screw up installation. Note for parents that like using...

What brake pads do you all recommend?

Just keep them cleaned/waxed/polished and you will minimize the brake dust stick. If you have existing grime, try one of the wheel cleaner products. Oven cleaner type products will work, too... used casually.

What brake pads do you all recommend?

Sorry, I have never written any formal instructions to do it... or taken any notes. It's fairly intuitive once you get the wheel off and look at the parts you have. It's basically the same as any car: undo the bolts, pull back the piston with a clamp, put new pads in, put it back together...

    07 LR3 w/v6 engine

The LR3 had a Jaguar based engine since day 1... even the V8 test vehicles that were floating around in North America had them. There is no way this is true.

    Headrest - from an LR2/RRS???

gtc, the rear head-rests can be removed in any LR3. Not recommended for non-kid seating, of course. If I remember correctly, the alternate headrests as pictured in your posting are used on 5 seat models without the 35/30/35 split rear seat option (part of the "Convenience Package"?)... very...

What brake pads do you all recommend?

Welcome to dealer service and fixed price costing. Sorry, I did it myself, too. But I'm slow, and it took more than an hour. My $800 guess could be high (based on what I've seen for euro-market vehicles around here)... just ask your dealer to see if I was close. Maybe they throw in...

What brake pads do you all recommend?

I used and prefer OEM pads... no real reason, just conservative. I'm guessing the average cost for dealer parts & labor for front/back pads & sensors is probably near $800. Of course, it varies by location and dealer.

2006-2007 GPS DVD Update - 1791 Hack Found

If it wasn't clear, if you already have the new (bypass blocked) Navigation software... you can't downgrade the software. The modified disc is to prevent the upgrade being done on older vehicles. Sorry, there is no 'fix'.

Using the NAV screen as a standard touch PC touchscreen

That won't enable the "touchscreen" functionality the original poster wanted... the actual touch input. That's just a Gigabit Video Interface bypass with VGA converter. If you want VGA, that's likely the only solution. If you are cheap and can handle composite, you can just run a cable to the...

    LR3 Bluetooth Question

There are many less than optimal 'infotainment' design issues. It's not their strong-point. More annoying: I'm often on calls while walking to my car. If I unlock my door too early, and don't start the car or manually turn the radio on in time... my cell phone conversation will transfer to...

    LR3 Bluetooth Question

Yes, 'as designed.' The PTI system works as part of the radio, hence the need for it to be on while speaking. There is no logic to determine if you want it off or on after a call is completed.

    Changes in LR3 from 05?

brandonb, most of it is likely placebo. Yeah, sure there are 'production improvements' as time goes on... but I've driven many 2007 and a few 2008s, and I don't find it much different in 'feel' beyond the type of tires and their wear levels. The transmission software update that was applied...

    Changes in LR3 from 05?

Go take a look yourself. Not much. I'm sure you can search and find various comments, but... if I remember correctly: Nothing major. Some different exterior colors. PTI (Phone Integration) added in 2006 and improved later with Bluetooth phonebook access. Front parking distance sensors...

No, not possible. The switches really have little to do with the function.
