    Dunlop Rover M/T

My friend at www.AdventureDuo.com uses those on his very heavy overbuilt Land Cruiser, and seems to like them quite a bit.

    New to Land Rover Questions

    1. Congrats on finding your way to this forum, this is a great site with knowledgeable, and friendly people. 2. I am not aware of any major differences between 07 and 08. In 07 the LR3 got a couple nice little features different from 06 (like seats that can be adjusted without the key in the...

    Leaving tires at low PSI?

It's called "Tire Pyrolysis" http://www.youtube.com/user/EquipmentSupplyCo#p/a/u/1/jBUVzgCHHuA It's when a chemical reaction occurs in the body of the tire (not the air chamber). It is caused by applying heat to the tire, even indirectly such as by welding on a rim or something. I am NOT...

    Leaving tires at low PSI?

The dangers of running aired down tires on pavement have to due with heat and sidewall stability. You mentioned driving slow around corners, that helps with stability. But the heat factor is something to consider. If a tire starts to build up internal heat, it can hit a "tipping point" and...

    High Country Offroad

Their products are not works of art like the RS sliders, but they do function, they serve a niche in the price range that is appreciated by many, and this last point cannot be understated: there are desperately few alternatives. Sadly, I think High Country has once again decided to throw in...

    LR3 Spare Tire Winch Problems?

Mine got all knotted up and inoperable, just hand winching maybe twice in my ownership period? Edit: I unbolted it (it's very easy to do) and brought into the dealerships Parts counter. He handed me a new one and I installed it. No big deal.

    Best tires for LR3

Please note, that site has moved! New address is at http://lr3tips.wordpress.com On a side note, I ran the Nitto's and the Cooper Zeons. I got way more usefull tread wear from the Coopers, and they rode a lot better on the road as well. I have heard great things about the Hankooks, but no...

On the beach.. lets see if I have this right

Tire pressure is very dependent on wheel size, or more specifically sidewall height in this case. Most Land Rovers are running 32" or 33" tires, on 16" rims, so they have fairly meaty sidewalls plus larger air volume, so they can, and actually need to run lower pressures. On the typical...

Hello everyone, I want to let you all know that I am migrating my LR3 blog from my old web development hobby site (NextStepDesigns.com) over to a dedicated blog specifically for the LR3/LR4, and RRS. The new site is: lr3tips.wordpress.com I am looking for volunteer content editors and...

Looking for volunteers to host my LR3 related info

Yeah, right after I pushed Submit on my last post, I had pretty much the same idea. So that's what I did. I imported my current NSD site to the new and improved LR3tips blog at Wordpress: www.lr3tips.wordpress.com Now I am looking for content editors, like DuckDive, Horum...

Looking for volunteers to host my LR3 related info

    1. Server is still up, no problems on my end. 2. It's in WordPress version 2.7.1 (pretty out of date, I know) 3. I can export the content to XML for importing into another Wordpress blog, or you can cut and paste pretty easily. The problem with the XML export is that it's the whole blog, not...

Looking for volunteers to host my LR3 related info

I am going to shut down NextStepDesigns.com. I have some LR3 related info and articles on that site. Does anyone want to host it themselves? If not, come Oct 1st, it will be gone.... http://blog.nextstepdesigns.com/ (basically, anything under the Land Rover > "LR3 Tips", "Tires", and Mod's"...

    Side Protection Tubes

No you're right on. Joe worked with Adam in the technical design of the OE sliders. I don't know the status of the project though. Also, Joe's label is BLR, not BMR (it stands for Black Listed Rovers)

Tow/recovery strap for LR3 - what weight rating?

There is no better strap than the ARB. It's exceptionally well made, and well wearing. However, my buddy Thor at Viking Off Road provides some of the industry best yankers also. Their flat strap is also very good, but their kinetic ropes are the bomb. Not quite as compact as the flat strap...

On the beach.. lets see if I have this right

Yes, Drag, which is friction.... So you have two locations where friction is at play. The lack of friction under the wheels (in mud), and the excess of friction against the chassis in deep mud...and snow.

    RS Sliders - installed.

Did you use a floor jack? I put a length of 2x4 (about 36") across the cup of the floor jack, then balance the slider on that, and crank it up to height. Make sure you tape on the body mounts to the slider first though, so everything lines up. With the slider held up by the jack, you just...

What tire pressure do you run?

I ran 40/42 with my 285/60/18 Coopers (on pavement), mostly for gas mileage and the fact they are soft enough to still give good ride, yet retain some cornering stiffness at that pressure.
