    LR4 Tailgate not opening

Bumping a pre-existing thread. I'm having an issue where the switch above my license tag isn't working that well to open my tailgate, but the button on my remote works okay. Still the actuator in the tailgate? Or is it more of a switch problem? Thing is, I can't find the part number for the...

    Leaking air spring replacement

Hmm. Maybe I'm thinking of the Arnott struts. When I get home I'll have a look at the new Arnotts I have sitting around waiting to be put in.

    LR4 crossbar racks

If you don't have roof rails, you'll probably need those first. Otherwise, there are some roof racks that work without rails. I think FrontRunner has some.

    P0170 fuel trim and CEL

I've got the poly bushings in my lower control arms as well. I notice they make quite a creaking sound when my front wheels articulate. Wonder if there is a good way to grease them?

New Recall Alert : Fuel System

Got a text about an hour ago saying mine was done already. Around 3 hours checks out, assuming they started on it right after I dropped it off.

    Leaking air spring replacement

I believe the OEM shocks are made by Bilstein, as well.

    Defender 130 is out!

This bugs me too. One thing I've always liked about the LR4 is it actually seems bigger on the inside than you'd think it'd be from looking at the outside. I'm not sure if it's body/frame construction, safety issues, or what. But it does seem like doors and body panels have done nothing...

New Recall Alert : Fuel System

Dropped mine off this morning. Should be done today. If I get a CEL on mine and the dealership tries to deny responsibility, I'm cracking some skulls.

    LR4 Diff & TCase lifespan

As far as the transmission goes, it's a ZF unit that's used in almost every Land Rover, plus a lot of BMWs, Audis, Fords, and Volkswagens. It's probably one of the more reliable complex components on the Land Rover. For airbags, if you mean the suspension, they last about as long as a standard...

    Leaking air spring replacement

At 90k miles and a lot of offroading, do you really want to not just replace the whole strut? How much money are you saving? And when your shock goes in another 20k miles or less, are you going to be happy with your decision? The OE brand was Delphi, which goes by some other names. Cheapest...

New Recall Alert : Fuel System

I have mine scheduled for tomorrow. When I set the appointment, I asked the service guy if there is anything else they should do while they are in there, such as the fuel pump. He said I shouldn't replace anything if it was not broken. Whatever. Common Land Rover service guy doesn't know the...

    Some codes. Please assist.

I know you said your battery is good, but how old is it? There have been several instances before of people thinking their battery was good, only to discover it wasn't.

What should I strip off this LR3 for spare parts for my LR4?

Nothing would **** me off more than doing all the work to change out a mechanical part only to find the part I replaced it with is 90% clapped out. Maybe I'm showing my privilege or something, but I'd stick with pulling hard, non-mechanical parts like wheels, roof rails, fender flares, etc. No...

    Random LR4 Death and Resurrection

Maybe a too-simple thought, but was there maybe a bad connection with one of the battery cables that you unknowingly fixed when you put them back on the battery?

    Some codes. Please assist.

Have you cleared the codes to see if any come back?

    A/C Blower Issue

I don't remember what the Atlantic British aftermarket blower was. But I'd guess yours is a resistor issue. The resistor controls the fan speed. You may be able to get away with just replacing that. On mine, it would just die entirely. I'd replace the fuse, it would run for a few minutes...

    Bad tie rod ends?

Put your hand over the joint and have someone turn the wheel. If you feel movement between the parts, that's it.

Only 5 quarts of oil drained second oil change in a row (also… drain plug?)

You all who are balking at a $100 mightyvac purchase must value your time cheaply. I'd guess the mightyvac saves around 30 to 40 minutes per oil change when you add up removing/reinstalling the skid plate, crawling underneath, changing clothes to stain-friendly ones, etc. I've done 13 oil...

    Bad tie rod ends?

I think it gets more normal around your mileage. They don't have the same stresses as the lowers, but they do go out after a while.

    Bad tie rod ends?

Could be upper control arm bushings.
