Hey all. I'm getting excited for a trip to Moab this spring. I noticed this page with off-road ratings for Moab trails:
http://www.utah.com/offroad/moab_trail_ratings.htm
For those that have been to Moab, I am just wondering what sort of trails you have tackled and with what equipment...
I have a couple of concerns based on the reviews I've been able to find:
1. Not lasting long on heavy vehicles (e.g., LR3).
2. Not performing well in slush/snow
The second one is tough, because the reviews I've read are on completely opposite ends of the spectrum. Some say the tires are...
fwiw, these Nittos do have an S speed rating. The LR3 manual says to use H or V. The load index of the tire is 112, though, which meets the manual secs.
That's the thing... It's a mom-mobile during the week and we take it offroad occasionally on the weekends. Hoping for at least one Moab trip this year.
Here's the link I'm looking at:
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/findTireDetail.do?c=2&rcz=84606&ar=60&rf=true&rd=18&rc=UTSINT&cs=255&dVeh=dVeh&tc=NITRH1&yr=2006&pc=40435&cf=false&vid=011444&sw=false
I just noticed that Discount Tire has the Nitto Terra Grapplers in 255/60/18 (stock dia). Is this something new? I haven't seen any talk about this tire in the stock size.
I still haven't pulled the trigger on a new set of tires, and I've got about 24k miles on the stock Goodyears. I got...
fwiw, the LR3 manual says to use (depending on the wheel size):
235/70 R17 H with a load index of 111
255/60 R18 H or V with a load index of 112
255/55 R19 H or V with a load index of 111
But few of the tires that are talked about here meet those suggestions.
Congrats! I got my 2006 in September with 22k miles, and I am loving it.
Here is a *very* recent thread on suppliers/vendors/parts/accessories:

You'll find that most general questions are already answered here.. The hard part is...
Dang
That Curt hitch is pretty cool. I was hoping it would improve the tongue weight situation, but it only increases it to 600lbs. with a more limited towing capacity of 6,000lbs.
Sweet, congrats. I also have the black on black.. the exterior is a chore to clean, but it looks sharp and I love having the black interior. I have an 06 with 25k miles and I'm still on the original brakes, but they will need changed soon. Hopefully somebody changed yours about 10k miles ago...
I was hearing something too, now that I started using the heater. Do you guys hear it back behind the driver's side front tire when you're outside of the vehicle? I could be hearing something different; I don't know if it'd call it a whistle. I only hear it when my fan it blowing on the two...
I had a professional shop do some touch-up on the edge of my door where some paint had been chipped off, and it looks pretty bad. It's not very noticeable because it's right on the end edge of the door. But I agree with the guys here; touch-up paint just really isn't that good. I use some...
Yep, it all depends on when the vehicle went into service. Just call your local Land Rover dealership with the VIN and they should be able to quickly tell you the exact date that the warranty expires. If you can purchase an LR3 with even just a small amount of warranty left, you can then...
I'm not sure what these are called and I'm not sure when I did this, but I tore one of the plastic (or fiberglass) guards that sit immediately behind the exhaust pipes under the vehicle (when they are running perpendicular to the vehicle). I'm guessing I tore it when I was going through some...
Just a quick question. I'm now using the heater for the first time in my 06 SE. One thing I think is weird is that when putting the climate control on "auto," the air only seems to go through the floor. If I try to manually switch the heat to the dash vents (or any other configuration, I...
It depends on the mound, and you'll probably get a lot better advice from other people here than me. But here is one example :)

You might find the "Off-Road Driving" manual interesting. You can get it here...
Wait, I'm confused. Are you saying that if I leave my lights on overnight or something and the battery is dead in the morning I chouldn't jump it and let it idle to charge it back up? What would be the solution--charge it with a trickle charger or something? Or are you just saying that I...
Hrm.. does BajaRacks even have that "LR3 Rack" that's on Columbia Rovers' site? I don't see it on the BajaRacks page (http://www.bajarack.com/). Maybe it's an older model? Maybe I'm just looking int he wrong spot.
same here.
I have read in another forum that you can get a key machined that will work to open the door if you lock your expensive/official key in the vehicle. Does anyone know if that is true? I have a friend in the machining business.
I run 89 oct with no problems. However, I am at 4,551' elevation. The dealership told me 89 oct was fine here, but if I ever went to lower elevations I should probably use premium.
I get close to 22 mpg on the freeway.
Resurrecting an old thread...
Looking at the pictures of the AudioControl OVERDRIVE device, it looks like it needs 12v power and ground. How did you guys go about doing that that?
