I'm a newbie, and thought I'd "play" at a little off-roading . . . got my butt stuck on a mound with wheels hangingin the air . . . thought I was gonna have to call someone to bail my sorry-@$$ out . . . low and behold my suspension went into an uber-extended mode!!
Man I LOVE this car . . . what happened and why?

Thanks ahead of time for not making my urban self look too embarrassing :trytofly:

When the suspension system senses that you have highsided yourself (wheels hanging) it automatically goes into extended mode, which is about 2" higher than off road height. It can even go into super extended mode if necessary, which is an inch or so higher than that. I've only been in it a couple times, but it sure comes in handy. I only wish you could select it manually ahead of time, rather than having to bottom out on something first. But now that I have RS sliders, it's not as big a deal.

BTW, you can "trick" the suspension into going higher by getting a set of shortened height sensor rods. AKA the "Rod Mod". It's only about $100 plus or minus, and gives you a couple extra inches of height in every mode. They're easy to take on and off.

beantmt - sweet video, thanks.

Boaz . . . what's the story on these rods? Take them on and off? How does that work?

They just snap on to two contact points behind the wheels. The first time was a little hard, but with a little WD40, they just pop right on there. I think there's a picture of them on here somewhere. Cheapest and easiest way to get a couple extra inches of suspension height that I know of.

...takes a little more finesse than that, but yeah the rod-mod is easy and a good way to go. Especially if you want to go back 'n forth between a street-config and an offroad-config (I do).

Do I need to pull the tires?
Will it void the warranty?

I pull the tires personally...but I do so while I change back 'n forth between my Michelins on 19s and MT/Rs on 18s anyhow. I couldn't imagine not pulling the tires, but I know that people do it.

basically, this is my everyday drive-to-work vehicle . . . and I am starting to get the off-road bug . . . i don't see doing anything too elaborate - though I know this baby CAN . . . . seen a lot of good picks/videos on this forum - so i am looking at slowly making it a little more off road friendly . . .

maybe skid plates . . . but I WOULD like to not mess with the warranty since I paid for extended . . .
