2016 LR4 Original Owner. 75k. Thinking about selling, but not sure of alternative rides that can do everything this does.

I have test drove the Toyota Landcruiser (Prado), Lexus GX, Ford Bronco, Jeep Wrangler 392, and Land Rover Defender 110 (P400). I have to say that the Defender has something that the others don't. Can't really name it but it's just that draw. Maybe bc I've been with LRs for the last 20+ years and it's just a bias thing.

Oh I really like the Defender 110, I just don't trust it whatsoever so it would be lease and return for me on that one. The new 2025 GMC Yukon is nice too. Full fold flat seats and now has the upgraded 3.0L turbo diesel.

I was driving on the freeway yesterday over a mountain pass in Washington State when a white Defender 110 and my black LR4 got into a friendly competition. The Defender was effortlessly cruising at 80-90 mph in the fast lane around tractor/trailer rigs and passenger vehicles travelling at around the 70 mph speed limit. Not to be outdone, I drafted off the back of the Defender and kept up pretty well, albeit with a bit more effort. I imagine they may not have been particularly pleased that my outdated and depreciated LR4 was performing pretty much on par with their late model $100k plus ride.

Wait 4 more years and VW might sell you a body on frame plug-in hybrid Scout.
They're claiming $60K starting price. Like when Grenadier said "accessible pricing" and then launched at $85K-$95K or when Cybertruck said it would start at $55K(?) and is now $100K base. Why on earth VW is pre-announcing a vehicle that far out is beyond me.

Drove a 2022 Discovery p360 HSE...ingenium 6. It was a nice ride; lots of power, quiet, towing capacity same as LR4. Comfort was excellent and I actually like the styling [many others dont] but i thiink they are sales dogs so may not be around too much longer.
16,000 units sold in 2023 vs 110,000 Defenders. Oof. If the rumors are true, it's going to be even more "family/mini-van" style - the Discovery is dead and the Defender is really the Disco 5.5. :)
