Aux Input Hum/ Ipod
The hum is associated with the lack of a good ground loop isolator. Your options are: Use the battery and don't plug the ipod into the cigarette lighter. Purchase a cheap ground loop isolator (radio shack has a few) Purchase a decent adapter (the Belkin above usually -- but not always works) -

The SE's drive much better. The SE's have better and more tire options You can option an SE up to HSE specs sans the better seats (negated in 06 anyway) The stereo sucks in both. 06's are reported to have shittier seats. Pick up a 05 at a discount. -

Stereo sounds the same. The HSE seats are better. The SE rides better and has more tire options out there. -

I can beat that. Imagine seeing 2 young kids (techs) tearing ass down the street at 2X the legal limit in your 911 turbo. Been there, done that. This for a routine inspection. -

Glad things seem to have worked out for you. Our Tonga SE purcahsed in November threw a suspension fault in 0 degree weather with 700 miles on it. Restarting the car cleared the issue. At 1000 miles the ignition shut off; again a restart solved the issue. 8000 miles later neither of these... -

01 SE7. One problem, the MAF failed after 3 years. Picked up our LR3 in November. Zero issues. -

Zaino. Cheaper than the foo-foo shit, shines better and lasts a lot, lot longer. Some European blacks will cloud with it though. -

Man I feel terrible for you guys with issues. We had a 01 SE7 Disco with no probems and our LR3 has been the same since November. -

worried about reliability?
Had a 01 Disco SE7 for 4 years. The one thing that went wrong was the MAF sensor -- and that is going to happen randomly in any car. Our LR3 which we picked up in November has had zero issues 8,000 happy miles later. -

Renting before buying?
Hertz has replaced or is replacing their discos with LR3's. I rented one in Atlanta this week. -

3rd row seat
eh. somthing seems fishey. I seriously doubt any new LR has had *that* many issues. On the other hand if someone was looking for an angle to fix the mistake they made when they bought on impulse and did not do their homework, I can see these things happening. -

Fuel Economy
We see an average of 16MPG (wife drives 99 percent of the time) -- which beats my lifetime 996 turbo average by .2 MPG -- and my track 911TT by about 12MPG :) -

True, as are low powered avoidance lights in some countries for street parking at night. -

LR3 Reliability
6800 miles since November. 1 software glitch when it was -18 degrees a brake warning code was thrown. Otherwise, dead solid reliable -- as was our 01 SE7 Disco. -

A lot of misinformation in this thread. You can get an SE with the nav, I have one. The differences between the SE and HSE are as follows: HSE has the adaptive font headlights. HSE has the memory seats and pass side mirror tilt (ala my 911 turbo .. in fact the same damn buttons)... -

LR3 driver seat question...
The HSE seats allow independent raising and lowering of the front and back (like the old Disco). The SE seats do not as you raise the seat it tilts forward. Very annoying. -
