Despite reading all the issues on the forum, decided to jump in after a test drive. Went for the V6 with Premium and 3rd row seats. I know it's not a popular choice as most people on this forum went for the V8.

Picked up from dealer 100mi away last night and drove home; everything's fine. Freeway driving only got 14.9mpg, although I didn't check to reset computer before leaving for home so it might have averaged from some other number that was there before.

Today it was slow off from stop, didn't shift up into next gear (I guess that would be 3rd? since it starts in 2nd?) until about 2.5k-3.0k rpm, no power. So is this what the adaptive transmission does? Will drive more aggressively over this weekend to see if tranny reprograms, or will need to take it in Tue.

Can someone confirm if my assumption above is correct? Any advice for a new owner?

Few notes.... You are driving a very heavy suv, it will take a bit more accelerator to get moving, plus there is the adaptive transmission. Plus, its brand new!!! Give it some time to break in, your gas mileage will go up and it will loosen up. Try starting out in sport mode, see if there is a big difference. It will take you some time to get used to the LR3, and some time for the truck to get broken in.

I just hit 10,000 on my HSE, and I absolutely love the truck. I have taken it off-roading several times, including the Land Rover National Rally in Leadville Colorado, and it performed brilliantly. (Thats me in my LR3 on www.solihullsociety.org) (next to the exploring history section.)

Give it some time, its an amazing vehicle.. enjoy!

Day 2: took on a more aggressive throttle style for a 20min ride, after shut-down and restarting, transmission definitely reset itself to a different power delivery. Guess the adaptive transmission works!
Love the truck, amazingly quiet for a suv. Since it's my wife's, and she's moving from a Honda cr-v, she's ok with the 200hp v6. After the 2yr lease on this one, we've got our eyes on the RRSport; hope they would have worked out all the kinks by then.
Starting to see hazing around door panel near window area, will check out forum posts and have dealer check it.

If you can't afford the V8 and you are ******** about the power --- uhh ....

That was an uncalled for statement from the last poster; I had expected better manners from forum readers who can read better as I was not complaining about power, but the adaptive transmission. No need to be personal about my financial status; to each his own. Disapponting behavior indeed.

My wife's very happy with the LR3 but I've been fortunate to be in an 02 996 for quite some time. Just can't get over how much better executed the Rovers are in terms of interior design. The RRSport we tested just blows the doors off the Cayenne in terms of fit and finish and design. The LR3 equally amazing over the BMW X3 and have much more detail over the Cayenne as well. It's our 1st Rover and we're very impressed.

Cool.
The Disco3 won some interior design award at some auto designers conference this year... I keep finding little things I can't believe they thought of...
A 'slope' in the handle part of the drink holders so that you can slide change out of them and not have to dig it out with your fingernails.
The ashtray having a slot in the back of it so it doesn't hit the fan dial when you put it back it in from the top with the gear in park.
Little things, I could go on.
But, then again, stupid things like the 12volt outlets not being 'hot' with the key off make me mad.

Get ready for the LR 'Experience.' Hopefully its a good one!!
