I can't for the life of me get the hitch receiver REMOVED from my truck. I have the key, and the receiver is locked onto the truck. But I cant get the key into the lock. Just wont go in. Also -- when its locked on the truck, is the red bar supposed to be showing ? Or just the green handle...

    Source for Sparkle Finish Paint

sparkle finish paint Not sure if this is true -- but someone on the UK boards posted awhile back that the color of the paint from the SE 18" wheels to the 19" HSE wheels was slightly different. I don't know if I believe this but worth checking. At the time I questioned it because I thought the...

    sunroof rattling

Mine Too Definitely has something to do with the cold weather (its in the 20's in Nashville now). Mine rattles right above drivers side head... if I push up on it, it stops. Its not the sunroof shade either... ideas?

I emailed Kumho to say "please develop / sell a 19" tire that fits Land Rovers and Range Rovers"... they're looking into it. Begin forwarded message: From: "Charles van Heusden @KumhoTireUSA" Date: December 9, 2009 11:25:44 AM CST To: xxxxxxx Subject: RE: 19" tire sizes in light truck / on...

    Heated Seat Issue

Heated Seat Pretty common issue as miles accumulate/seat time increases... My experience w/ heated seats in Rovers and other makes (audis, saabs from the 80's on) is that sometimes it can be switches/ relays/connectors... but most likely, its probably a break in the wire in the seat somewhere...

Land rover part # catalog / what is out there to use

I want the part numbers because a good portion of the time the dealers dont order the correct parts (unless you have the old part to compare to). Just an extra measure to be certain. Also -- honestly -- I like browsing the catalogs looking at the parts too. It's fun. I have a bunch of old...

Land rover part # catalog / what is out there to use

Question -- is there a DVD catalog of the whole LR3 where I can look up part #'s for all the parts on the car? (not just accessories, I'm talking the whole car). I know dealers have some system... but not sure if its available to nondealers. I have one of these for my audi and saab has a...

Someone explain how to use a recovery strap please.

Recovery points on LR3 I dont know about that -- the huge loop by the towing hitch on an LR3 is a recovery point... not just a lashing spot. And the one on the front is on the frame of the truck too... I cant imagine anything stronger.

    How 2 replace suspension compressor

Check ebay saw some on there today If it helps, there are 2 new compressors on ebay right now for between 200-300 bucks. No idea if they are latest part number revision etc, but I saw them there while browsing this morning (my morning routine before really waking up is coffee, ebay surfing for...

    LR3 Brush Bar issues....

Brush Bar You will need to cut / trim those bottom pieces. Unfortunately I can see that you already have drilled the bumper / installed the upper mounting bolts. I'd make the dealer install a new appearance package bumper and forego the brush bar... or have them trim the appearance package to...

discovered something weird with air suspension

Lowering on the freeway I got this reply while I was on I-65 here in Nashville. So I thought, maybe I'm crazy and started this all for naugh -- but indeed... If I lower my 2005 HSE (build date 03/05 so it seems to be a later 05) to access, when going over 70 or so, it shows "lowering" on the...

    Annual MPG thread

Mileage No matter how hard I try around town / in Nashville, my 2005 HSE is always about 11.9 mpg. On the highway I can get 14 if I'm driving fast (80 or 90 or so) and have averaged a high of about 17 or 16.5 when setting cruise at 70 and not touching it. I just replaced my air filter...

    Dealer Bull Bar installation price

I just did it myself -- non winch bull bar I did it pretty well (Im handy / mechanical / etc)... 2 holes in bumper need to be drilled. I drilled mine slightly too high so unfortunately you can see just a very bit of the holes, but its fine. I'd go 2-3 mm lower than what it says on the...

driving light wiring harness - will Range Rover harness work ?

Hey gang - I bought a wiring harness, OEM, complete, new and uninstalled from a guy for my LR3. Got it today and realized that the harness is actually for the new (2003+) Range Rover and not the LR3. Big bummer. Anyways... anyone know if I can possibly repurpose the Range harness ( from Range...

    Air springs - cleaning ? muddy ?

Question -- I'm relatively new to air suspension (but I love it)... and I was washing the underside of my LR3 this AM and I noticed that the air bags / springs are pretty dirty. Does the dirt present on the air springs and thus rubbing on the rubber parts mess them up or otherwise shorten their...

    LR3 and it's plastic

Just saw this post - color of black plastics on LR3 By the way, I don't think you noticed fade... the mudflaps are _black_ plastic. The stock wheel arches and other slightly textured trims on the LR3 are not black, they are slightly greyish (from new)... the color is anthracite black or...

discovered something weird with air suspension

Yep Im sure it stays in access height And I'm not locking it there... just one down command on the suspension lever. It def lowers too, I can feel it lower quickly ... and then it gets a little "bouncier" when its low. Cant be good for it, but I'm still a little surprised it allows me to do...

discovered something weird with air suspension

I'm on a roll today -- I discovered that when I am on the highway going maybe 70+ if I try to lower air suspension to access, it will lower. and stay there. If I slow down to maybe 20 or 30, suspension then raises automatically. I read the book / manual, and it doesn't look like I should be...

check out your drivers side c-pillar trims where seatbelt rubs

(EDIT: I MEAN B-PILLAR, NOT C!) I was getting in my truck today and for some reason my drivers side seatbelt jammed for a sec. I looked at where it goes through the B-pillar trim piece (ie where it can be moved up and down for different height drivers)... and I was kind of surprised to see...

Is an alignment necessary with new tires?

Alignment There _is_ some setting that rover dealers use when they do an alignment (or at least LR Nashville does and LR Huntsville does) -- its called "high tolerance mode" or "tight tolerance mode. Its not a setting with the alignment machine, its a setting that they do to the car's air...

    60k Service Costs/worth??

? for DMike -- LR3 Tranny fluid Mike thats a great list (in fact 2 years ago I did the 60K service on my old disco 2 based off of a post of yours from a few years ago). Anyways -- I had thought the trannys on these LR3s (us market, auto for the euros here) used some super special (read...
