Finally finished, Bosch for Denso Infotainment Swap

Quick update, and also as an FYI. I did some research on the whole "reversed image" thing, and it turns out there's a TSB out there from JLR for it. It sounds like at some point the camera failed internally...I'm sure it had something to do with all my crazy swaps and plug ins and what not...

    2012 LR4 Electrical power loss

I’d check the cables and bottoms of the CJB. In theory, even though the battery is just a giant “capacitor” when running, because the alternator is connected to the positive cable, if it was rhetorical battery, the engine would still run fine and not stumble…in theory. That said, batteries can...

2012 LR4 infotainment problem. Help please!

From what you’re describing, it sounds like it’s the touchscreen display that has gone bad. If it were the audio unit, I don’t believe it would be rebooting. You can try the key first, but a used touchscreen is only $100 or so from eBay, so thankfully, not crazy expensive. The good news is...

2012 LR4 infotainment problem. Help please!

Is the screen rebooting? Aka, does the logo reappear? Or is it freezing and resetting in the touchscreen display? Also, what year is your LR4? Cause there’s a BIG difference in what modules are where between 2010/11 and 2012+ LR4s. (It’ll help to narrow the problem down.

    H/K Logic7 system blown?

What year is your LR4? There are different power outputs for different year models. (2010/11 had a 650Watt (ish, I can't remember the specific number) system and 2012+ had a 1250watt system). I'm wondering if there's an issue with your amp or your speakers. I know this is a silly question...

2012 LR4 infotainment problem. Help please!

Yeah, sounds like either your audio unit or touchscreen is toast. One of them is causing the other to crash. Thankfully, you don't have to be too mechanically inclined to removed either module. The audio unit requires a little extra work because you sorta start at the top with the touchscreen...

Finally finished, Bosch for Denso Infotainment Swap

Sorry, the cable modem was fine, power was just out. (Switched to my hotspot to get the last post up, but then had to deal with the outage then travel.). Ok, where was I... So, now I have the new ICE LINk harness run, I've transplanted the amplifier wiring harness out of the 2016 cabin...

    Infotainment Display Error

Yes, I'm guessing that's the 2016 UI, as it doesn't look anything like my 2012 either! LOL! It does also give me the option for a hotspot, but tells me there's no SIM detected. I don't care, my phone works better anyway! Other than that, everything works great!

Finally finished, Bosch for Denso Infotainment Swap

Let me start this post by saying, if I knew then what I know now, I NEVER would have started this project!! It would literally be cheaper and easier to buy a used 2012/13 with a blown engine life the body, roll my 2010 driveline underneath and go on my merry way!!!!! A little bit of...

    Infotainment Display Error

Thanks for all the inputs, but I finally figured my issue out. It appears as though there was some sort of internal error on my touchscreen unit. I went ahead and got another touchscreen just to check as I noticed the Audio Unit (AKA CD player) had a software load that was more advanced than...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

Ok, here's where the relay goes in the CJB: Here's the back, so you can see what wire goes where: Finally, here's the ground point. I used the top one as it was sitting there empty, but in theory you could use either. After all the wiring was finished, I turned my attention to the...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

Sorry for all the delays guys, but I've finally had a free moment to get back to NJ to work on the car. Here's the "bads;" - I had forgotten about the fact that the SC engine has a standard threaded cooling fan. After about 20 minutes of trying to swing the NA fan on counter clockwise I...

    Heater core swap

Yeah, if I’m being honest, when they’re good, they’re great! But it seems like they tend to have the “waterfall” of problems issue….until you finally get it all good. Then you get a little bit of peace and quiet….until the next thing. Even my Dodge truck didn’t require as much attention!

    Heater core swap

The only other question that comes to mind is, “when’s the last time you replaced the water pump?” There could be an issue there as well.

    Infotainment Display Error

I’ll check in the settings as soon as my son gets back with the car. (he’s due in Tuesday). I didn’t know they had a bright and a dark setting. It’s worth a shot! As for it working, the Sirius and Bluetooth audio work fine, the 4x4 info is there, the nav system works. The only apparent...

    Infotainment Display Error

Hey All! I'm hoping someone smarter than me can solve this issue for me. Long story short, I have officially replaced the entire Denso infotainment system with a newer style Bosch one in my 2010 LR4. So much so, that I've even updated the BCM, IPC and ABS module to a 2013 and re-VIN'd the IPC...

    Heater core swap

I think it’s the same kit I bought…and yeah, I think I paid like $150 or $200 for mine. It’s not cheap, but it makes life SOOOO much easier!!

    Heater core swap

Ha! So I'm not going crazy! As for the vacuum fill process, it's REALLY easy. Full disclosure, I bought the AIR LIFT kit off FCP Euro...wasn't the cheapest, but it's very effective! Plus I used parts and a few extras I bought to switch it from vacuum to pressure so I can pressure check as...

    Heater core swap

Unfortunately, to access the front heater core, the entire....and I mean entire dash comes out. Which also means you have to disconnect your AC evaporator lines as well. From the sound of things, I would agree it sounds like a sir pocket, or some sort of blockage. Have you looked inside the...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

Yeah, I'm not going to lie, our son inherited....ok, stole our 2010 LR4 when he started driving. That said, you just can't beat how safe and sturdy these things are. Given how crazy other drivers are, and how new drivers can make mistakes, we figured putting him in the safest car we owned was...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

Sorry for the delays folks, the holidays kicked my butt, and I didn't get nearly as much time to work on my LR4 as I wanted. But, we survived Thanksgiving and the college kid didn't seem too disgruntled, so I'm calling it a win! I was able to get the AC system evacuated and charged, 2lbs of...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

I checked Palm Beach and they show “discontinued” on their site. However, the other site, I don’t know that I’ve even been there! Hard to think of these things as “classics!” Lol! Thanks for the info!

    Project Dark Knight Rising

It's been a minute, but in truth I haven't made a ton of progress. I did manage to get the power steering pressure line reconnected with a new banjo bolt and washers. (Still can't believe I lost the originals...smh). I also got the remaining hoses in place, I just ran into one small issue...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

Actually, I haven’t seen those before. Definitely gonna go play with the SDD files. That said, most of what I need to do is correctly code the vehicle keyless module and PCM so they talk and play nice. If those two like each other, it should unlock the ignition and the car will start….in theory.
