I'd give the supplier some sh!t for sure - 'not fit for purpose' would be my opening phrase - followed by 'I'll return the old one and you send me a new one at no cost' Now, if you paid by credit card, you could look for a refund via their protection as the product was defective. -

Assume the other remote works ok? If so, then it's not the LR3. Sounds like the key switch contact was dirty. Probably just needs opening up, and some switch cleaner spraying into the switch contacts. -

What's this is my center console?
Ah ha! Just checked on BAY, and people are selling Land Rover cradles for this dock, each for a specific cellphone. Amazing that it's still in an 08 vehicle, yet there's no mention in the instruction guide - they just focus on Bluetooth integration. Thanks for the ID richpike :proud: -

Paint Question!
Looks more like paint etching from bird poop to me - that stuff will trash your paint if you let it sit a while. It is highly alkaline, and eats through the top layers of paint leaving etched areas - which will not polish out without some pro products and a decent buffer. -
aux input noise
I get the 'cassette tape' noise, but only when there's nothing plugged in to my AUX cable (a mini jack to mini jack Monster Cable). When I plug my iPhone in, noise goes away, and audio through AUX sounds great. -

08 LR3 SE - had incorrectly wired internal Mic from the factory Dealership pulled a ton of modules over two days before they figured out that the two wires were swapped over in the plug at the back of the mic! Symptoms were no outgoing audio on cellphone calls via Bluetooth - and no voice...
