I have a 2005 LR3 SE V8.... so my wife takes my LR3 to the store and comes back saying the Keyless doesn't work. Given that it self charges in the ignition, I figure I would just put it in the ignition and let the truck run for a little while to charge it. Still doesnt work.

Out of frustration, I just continue to push the unlock button vigorously thinking that if I'm rough with it it will listen to me. Now I just look like a fool...... but then suddenly it works!!!
And that was the last time it worked.

I know a new key is expensive. Does anyone have any experience with this utterly frustrating situation?

Signed,

Clueless Keyless

Assume the other remote works ok? If so, then it's not the LR3.

Sounds like the key switch contact was dirty.

Probably just needs opening up, and some switch cleaner spraying into the switch contacts.

Remotes are sealed and waterproof to I think like 50 feet. We tried to open one and pretty much had to destroy it. Still, sounds like a remote problem, but not sure how to fix...

The remotes have batteries in them, batteries go bad sometimes. If the other remote is working, it's the battery in the remote, probably isn't taking a charge anymore and needs to be replaced. Because they are sealed units, its non-serviceable, and thus, a very expensive battery unless you are still under warrenty
