Looking for Ideas on Personalized Plates.

She warned me that some of you guys would misread our "beach" plate. She loves the thing and drives it when I have her Mini Cooper S. ChuckD

Spring Break - Utah Overland Trip

Is that photo of the road down to the Colorado that starts just inside the Canyonlands NP entrance? My avatar is the sign at river's edge at the bottom of the road. A great drive if going down. ChuckD

    What's in your garage?

Just drywalled the interior up about 9 feet. Wife got me a HUGE rolling tool box for Xmas, so that goes in. As to entertainment stuff, we have a bonus room in the house with big screen, pinball machine, treadmill, etc. so the garage/shop will be just that. It has a full size garage door...

Beach driving without the heavy duty package?

We did fine near Hatteras without a locker on our '07. Airing down helps a lot as well as starting out in second gear with the "computer" in sand mode. ChuckD

Buying a service loaner? Bad idea?

About $2,600. It is from LR for 72 months. 100,000 miles with no third party company evident. $100 deductible per visit. Policy says "LR Assured". ChuckD

Buying a service loaner? Bad idea?

I bought a 2007 last month. 5K miles, spotless,as you describe, and loaded. Only gripe is that the OEM tires are going away already and I had the "parking brake at 70mph" issue. This was promptly fixed at no cost. I did buy the dealer's extended warranty, but got it at a $500 discount simply...

    Extended Warranties

In any case, haggle over the price. The dealer has a BIG markup on these. I saved $500 when I bought my 2007 LR3 extended warranty by simply asking if it was possible. ChuckD

    Parking Brake @ 75MPH!!

Before I had the problem that started this thread, I used the brake almost every time I parked the car for the month since we bought it. Maybe 100 times, always with the car stationary. ChuckD

    Parking Brake @ 75MPH!!

Next time I'm under the truck I'll try to find out how the whole thing works. The handle is most surely just a switch. ChuckD

    Parking Brake @ 75MPH!!

Your experience, except at the dealer, is eerily similar to mine at the top of this thread! To my knowledge there had been no brake work done on mine during its six months as a loaner. ChuckD

    Parking Brake @ 75MPH!!

Land Rover of Charlotte. They have the usual somewhat haughty service folks, but when they understand that the customer understands the vehicle and has the type of real-world knowledge that surfaces in forums such as this one, they get right to work. While there yesterday I did overhear them...

    Parking Brake @ 75MPH!!

After about 1.5.hours on the freeway this morning the LR3 suddenly began to shudder violently, as with a bad tire or the like. Shudder happened all the way to a stop. Looked truck over, felt wheels for heat, etc. No sign of anything out of the ordinary. Got back on board and resumed trip...

    beach report

Paul: No rear locker on my SE. Don't think it is necessary in sand, but would be a big help rock-crawling. Don't know why I used low range on beach except that we were going slowly. I did use the manual (Command Shift) to start moving in second or third gear to avoid wheelspin. ChuckD

    beach report

We took our brand new 2007 to Hatteras a week or two ago, Goodyears and all. Tried the beach without airing down and did OK until I stopped on a slight uphill stretch. Aired down to 22 all around and it walked right out. Used low range and sand setting. I'm impressed. I don't think my...
