    Uber Noob Questions

Yes, it's a pain taking apart the case, and there's a good chance you'll have pain in your hand when you gouge yourself with a screwdriver. Somebody did a write-up on this in one of the RR Sport forums. Let me see if I can find it... Ahh yes, here it is...

    Uber Noob Questions

The one issue I had with both of my remotes is that the battery separated from the circuit board. The first time it happened, I thought the battery was dead, so I bought a new battery and opened up the remote to do the swap. Upon closer examination and testing, I discovered that one of the...

    Uber Noob Questions

#3. Have you tried taking the remotes to your local auto parts store? They can test to see if your remote is actually sending a signal. That way you know if it's a dead remote battery or if it's your vehicle. I'm still using the original batteries in the remotes for my '05.

Rear floor mat retainer or hook

If I am not mistaken, the retainers are just plastic pieces that screw into the carpet, not the body of the car.

    New But Not a Noob

Perhaps a bad height sensor? Try this to diagnose the air suspension. On your nav screen, go to the page that shows the suspension heights for each wheel. Put the vehicle into off road height and monitor the screen to see if there are any irregularities. Do then same when the vehicle goes back...

    interstate battery upgrade

The other end attaches inside of the engine bay on the fender side. You can't access it from under the wheel well. Without moving anything other than removing the battery, you should be able to use a flashlight and see where the end of the negative cable goes. The negative cable does not have an...

    interstate battery upgrade

I just did this earlier this month because my battery was dead and the negative cable had some terrible corrosion. The other end of the negative cable attaches to the fender wall, but it is behind the box of fuses and relays. There is one bolt closer to the front of the vehicle that holds down...

    Have you tried these tires?

I put on the Hankook Dynapro ATMs last year in size 265/60/18 and I am very pleased with them. They have about 18000 miles on them now, and seem to be wearing nicely. I cannot comment on their off-road manners because I haven't taken them wheeling yet. There was a very slight increase in on-road...

    Bottle Jack

I think this is the one I purchased: http://tinyurl.com/bxqp25z It looks like the maximum lift height is 16.25 inches. I don't know if 19 inches would do the trick. Perhaps if you used your old scissor jack and measured, you could come up with the answer.

    Bottle Jack

I bought a 6 ton bottle jack from Home Depot after my factory scissor jack broke. The bottle jack is MUCH easier to use than the scissor jack, but it is not perfect. In particular, the model I have doesn't go high enough to lift the LR3 from the jacking points. I end up having to put blocks of...

Drain Pipe tips....where can i get these

Perhaps the dealer might have some snipped off ones. Why do you need it anyways? Most people cut the tip of the drain pipe off. That is what causes the tubes to get clogged.

    Transmission Fault

This site has the entire center console switch assembly for about $207, not including shipping. The part number is not displayed. http://www.parts.com/parts/2006/LAND%20ROVER/LR3/HSE/?siteid=2&vehicleid=1432799&section=BODY%20HARDWARE&group=CONSOLE&subgroup=CONSOLE&component=Switch%20assy...

    Transmission Fault

If it's rain water that got into the center console, you might be ale to get away with just drying it all thoroughly. Follow kwlr3's instructions regarding disassembling the center console, and then use a hair dryer or such to remove all the moisture.

    Soggy passenger floor

There is a vent on the US passenger side underneath the windshield wiper cowl that is notorious for allowing water to enter into the cabin. The cowl warps with time and no longer sits snugly against the windshield, thus allowing water in. Check you cabin air filter (accessed through the glove...

    Urgent...burst coolant line

The broken piece is the coolant bleeder valve. As you will note, the cap is made out of metal while the rest of the part is made out of a nice plastic that becomes brittle with time and heat. Mine cracked last year and I cobbled some pieces together from the local big box hardware store to make...

    LR3 HSE Oil Filter

My last oil change I used a K&N HP 1014 oil filter. Prior to that I used a Mann filter, and before that all my oil changes were done with the factory filter. The informal internet research that I did says the K&N filter is the same as the Mobil1 filter and is of excellent quality.

    Lower Control Arm Bushings

I had my lower control arm bushings replaced earlier this year. The indy shop I went to pressed out the old ones and put in the new ones. I tried twice to do the job myself, but I had a hard time getting the control arm off. The indy shop didn't do alignments, so I took it to the dealer. I am...

    Engine Cleaning

I've washed my engine twice. The first time was a low pressure wash, the second time was a high pressure wash. The most important thing to remember is not to shoot water into the ECU enclosure. It's located in the same large black plastic housing that the battery is in. I've also read that it's...
