Valve tappet noise or knocking when hot

I encourage you to go back & do it again, with MAF cleaner or "no residue" electronic cleaner. Just take it off and soak the crap out of it. - (Don't do it hot - the cold spray might crack the hotwire) I wouldn't trust anything else, I've done (3) of mine, (1)'s a spare, they all work... -

Do you know how he determined #7 cyl was leaking? Was the spark plug sparkling clean compared to all the others? Are you noticeably losing coolant?( other than the drip) The ujoint rebuild might be as much as $300 The head gasket (teardown required to be sure), may be another $1400 out... -

I'm sure Mike will agree, a U-joint on the front of a DII is cause for immediate concern. If it lets go, (it will) it usually takes the trans out with it. It is possible that your "shudder" is the ujoint if it shudders only while driving. As Mike said "let us know" as these forums are... -

It may have been on the verge, as the light won't always come on asap. (that would be annoying) remembering the ECU is somewhat adaptive, if this has been ongoing, the previous owner may have just kept resetting the obd2 An interesting test (since I'm not doing it, LOL), would be drive it...
