Hi, I posted a thread a few weeks ago on my 96 DISCO 4.0 with the GEMS system.

I would get an unmanagagable miss until 2K RPM (see major missing issue). I still have not cured the issue but unplugging my TPS seriously helped, to the point i can drive it. So I bought a used TPS off ebay, changed it out and the problem returned, exactly as before. With a DVOM the TPS checks OK. Should I buy a new TPS or could it be some other issue that uses TPS feed back? And I still can't read codes either. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like the ECU need to be reset with Testbook or autologic computer.

When you say "missing" , that conjures up in my mind an engine miss like a cylinder failing to fire, i.e. bad spark plug, wires, coils, etc.

But you zeroed in on the TPS, which affects the fuel injector pulsewidth from the ECU.
If the ECU thinks the TPS has failed to the "closed - 0v" it'll cut fuel around 1750rpm but you'd get a code. Did you check for voltage at the ECU?

Is your truck running rich? lean? have you plulled the plugs?

If so, was it only one plug?

There's other sensors that also affect fuel delivery, MAF, fuel temp sensor, cam pos sensor,

They all thro' codes.

I believe I'm average and w/o the truck or codes or a very detailed description of symptoms, I'd be at a loss.

Have you read thru' the rave cd - sfi fuel descriptions? that section covers a lot of sensors.

You might have to sort out the MIL light/code issue first.

luck,greg
