Can confirm that the coolant temp stays 91c and below during my morning commute. Same commute. Same stoplights. I guess it loses some efficiency in the extreme heat.
This morning it’s only 88f and functioning normally with AC on blast.
AC temp is also cooler
2012 LR4 US Spec 5.0
I noticed coolant temps are running 5-10 degrees more than normal if I sit for a couple of minutes in Drive (stoplights) blasting the AC.
Driving temps stay the same.
Temps only rise when stopped and in Drive w AC on. If I put it in park and rev over 1,000 rpm the...
DJKaos and me spoke and we think it’s the driveshaft, but I can’t figure out which one.
Is there a way to test / check?
Has anyone replace their front driveshaft?
Ditch it while you’re ahead. LR4’s are piles of ****. That’s my knee **** reaction, and like you I’m about a year & $30,000 into a vehicle that’s worth about $10,000 and still needs some work.
Mine was well maintained but seems to have another part break every time I drive it.
In the end...
Follow up:
Replaced PCV’s & no more smoke
Also took care of CEL & code for misfires on startup.
Took roughly 500 miles to burn through all the residual oil in the intake manifold.
This makes sense, thank you for helping me fully understand the system and how it operates!
I believe sensor 1 is the “hot” side as it consistently reads much hotter than sensor 2 aka the “cold” side.
All I see are sensor 1 posts & temps. Not much on here focused on sensor two hence my post.
Unless you care to correct me and link a thread I haven’t read, but I searched for 30 mins B4 posting.
Does anyone know what a good range of temperatures looks like in a US Spec 5.0, and if fluctuations are normal?
I’m running live values using my GAP tool and the readings are fairly consistent:
Sensor 1 reads 89-91 degrees Celsius and I’m guessing 91 opens the thermostat as that’s when the...
That’s why it’s important to close out the threads when we resolve an issue.
I’ll say this, the LR community is one of the most helpful on the inner webs and for that I’m grateful I can help others!
