    Leaking coolant

After I bought the Disco last summer, I saw a few drips of coolant hanging off of the suspension and steering linkages. I never saw any puddles on the ground however. I took a look around and couldn't find the source of the leak. The resevior always had fluid in it when I checked it. So I...

Just got my new shocks today

Rear shocks are a cinch. Just 1 nut per end. Easy install. Haven't had to do any work on the front yet so I don't know for sure what is involved for that.

    My Disco looks so wicked

I noticed the little bulbs in the headlights when I bought my Rover. One of them has wire loose. I always assumed that they were driving lights, which are mandatory here in Canada. Not bright enough to see by at night when driving, but just bright enough that other people can you coming in the...

    Mystery button ?

Right Arm! Here's something else to chew on. Every genuine part (or non-genuine for that matter) that I have bought for the Disco has been made in Germany! That reminds me of a story. A friend of mine was talking to a big biker dude who was at the gas station fueling up his Harley. My...

    Radio glitch

In just the last few weeks, my radio (stock) has done a weird thing. Occasionally, it will turn itself off, just for a few seconds, and then it will come back on. I only notice this happening after being in the vehicle and driving for awhile. It does it usually once during a longer trip. My...

Driving Disco on snowy/icy roads? Help?

I also highly recommend sipping (rymes with typing) your tires. If you have never heard of this let me explain. Sipping, is cutting lots of tiny slits across and through the tread of the tire. This gives multiple biting edges that help to give grip on the ice. Ask your local tire shop if they...

haha, so here's what the Tire shop told me I need to "fix"

I hear ya. He would have better odds at winning the lottery!!! I guessing that the shop people saw $$$$ when the Rover pulled up and thought they could pull a fast one.

Driving Disco on snowy/icy roads? Help?

My Disco's is a bit of a sled when it comes to winter driving conditions. I do however have tires that are too wide and I'm not to fond of the tread pattern. And it is a heavy vehicle, add too much speed and you get momentum; hard to stop on slippery surfaces. I was out driving for fun the other...

haha, so here's what the Tire shop told me I need to "fix"

Did ya ask them HOW they knew the calipers were bad? I had some calipers go bad on me once (i.e. they siezed). The first indication I had was excessive brake dust on the wheels. Second, the car was pulling hard to one side while driving, not braking. Third was a nasty hot brake smell while...

Sounds like a thin metal vibrating.

Check to see how tight the wheel lug nuts are. I was getting a funny noise and found 4 nuts on the left rear had backed off a number of turns. Dang aluminum rims!

    Driveshaft seal?

So no one out there knows how to effectively remove this thing? Or do I even need to worry about replacing it.

    ARB Locker question

I have a lockrite auto locker and 36" tires on my land cruiser. When I travel down the road at speed, if I let my foot off the gas, or go to shift gears, the vehicle nearly changes lanes. A little unnerving when you don't expect it. I was at an off-road store once and was looking at a bench...

    ARB Locker question

Are you saying that the compressor is running all the time? If so, I would wire in a toggle switch for the dash. Then, with a flip of the switch you can go locked or unlocked. I'm surprised you don't already have a switch on the dash, unless I am misunderstanding your question.

    Driveshaft seal?

I got a new rotoflex from discountbritish. It came with some sort of a seal that goes inside of the rear of the rear driveshaft. The problem is that I can't figure how to get the old one out.

    ARB Locker question

I say it's a matter of the type of wheelin and terrain you want to cross. Even if you only go once a year, if your in nasty terrain, the locker will help. I have a locker in my Land Cruiser and I wouldn't do without it. I only went wheeling 3 times this year and I'm glad I had it every time...

    lockers?

Anyone here running a true locker in the rear? How about the front? (Yes, I know, off road use only in a straight line) Did the factory offer locking diffs at any time, other than the center diff? What about the aftermarket? Which company offers them? I would guess that ARB would have...

    Clunk, Thump, Bang

Well my parts finally arrived and I installed new pan hard bushings and replaced the shock bushings on the rear shocks. The old pan hard bushings didn't look to bad at all but I replaced them anyways. The verdict? She does ride nicer and quieter now, but......I still get the dull thunk noise...

    whats this button?

Strange, that a British made vehicle has a button depicting a road that is located on the European mainland. Mind you, when I ordered my authentic replacement button, I'm pretty sure it said "Made in Germany" on the package. Heck, with that mentality, why not just replace the snowflake on the...

Having problems starting after short drives

I have this problem when the engine is cold. She starts up just fine initially, but if I only drive 2 or 3 blocks (not long enough to warm the engine up) and shut it off, when I go to restart a minute or two later, she won't. I have to depress the accelorator to the floor and hold it there and...

    Door lock problems

I don't know if alarms were standard equipment for 95 or not. I have a 96' Disco and it works like the following. When you use the key to lock the drivers door, all the other doors should lock as well. When you do this the alarm should be activated and you should see a blinking red light in the...
