    Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding

I've been running my SYA kit for a while now too and that's when I added the push to connect fittings and extra tubing. I added it, because it was convenient to do it at the time. So, I'd agree with @avslash that it's really not a huge concern if you're using 6mm all the way. For anyone...

    Higher output alternator?

Thanks for the input! It's weird, I know it's working when driving it around. I think when the aux battery dips below a certain voltage and the Renogy can't keep up charging it shuts itself off. I specifically got the 20A version, because I didn't want to strain the alternator at idle. I...

    Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding

I work in IT and had this at my disposal. It works extremely well cutting nylon tubing. https://www.amazon.com/Fluke-Networks-11230002-Round-Stripper/dp/B000E5R3EC?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

    Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding

Yeah, IMHO, I think the less cuts or points of failure in the lines the better. Hence, my original suggestion of having a straight through union directly to/from the strut and schrader valve. Only use it a catastrophic failure kinda deal.

    Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding

The valve blocks increases/decreases air into the strut. If there's anything obstructing the valve block to the strut, it'll affect normal functionality. So, a 1-way ball valve in between would be bad. It needs to deflate the strut too.

    Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding

It works assuming your valve block is doing its job, specifically cutting power to your compressor fuse F26 and the entire suspension ecu F3. I had butterfly valves between the valve block and tee fitting, but wasn't rated high enough to work. The McMaster link had some 6mm end caps that'll be...

    Before Top Dead Center

Yes, at the crankshaft there is a keyway or chuck where the crank bolt goes in.

    Before Top Dead Center

It's listed in the workshop manual that timing is set at btdc, before top dead center. The chuck on the crankshaft should point at the 6 o'clock position and you need to lock it with the special crankshaft sensor tool. Lock up the camshafts with the special tools. There are 2 marks per intake...

    Yup, something like this.

Correct, 6mm OD. Here's some good tubing with a max of 1800 bursting psi. https://www.grainger.com/product/GRAINGER-APPROVED-100-ft-Nylon-Tubing-4HHF4

    Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding

I carry a full 3/8 socket set with deep and shallow sockets, extensions, elbows, 1/2 torque wrench with a 1/2 to 3/8 reducer, ratcheting wrenches, thin wrenches, and just make sure your kit has T20-T55 sockets and 8mm-19mm sizes, including 16mm and 18mm. As far as suspension issues go, build...

    Higher output alternator?

The Renogy 20A dc-dc charger is located in the rear hvac cubby. I ran (Amazon special) 100A breaker fused 2 awg directly to the dc-dc charger, separate wires for aux and starter battery in the engine bay, and a 16 awg signal wire from F60.

    Higher output alternator?

I have the Renogy dc-dc and I think it's ok for light duty use. Maybe it's just me, but on my last trip it failed on me at night while under heavy loads using all my led lights. One would think a dc-dc charger would continue charging even though it's not charging fast enough, but it stopped for...

    LR4 front fuel pumps

Haha, sorry my fault. No, you don't need to lock the cam gears for hpfp replacement. I've been wrapped around timing chain posts and helping a friend change out their timing chain. For hpfp replacement: - Open hood to remove engine cover - Depressurize the fuel system with a 17mm open wrench on...

    LR4 front fuel pumps

Yes, you need to lock the intake and exhaust cam gears from the back on both bank 1 and bank 2. Well, thats if you want to do it properly. You'll also need to lock the flywheel from the starter. Doing the zip tie version, you're also assuming that there's no chain stretch.

Need Some Quick Info On Valve Block Replacement

Just like that... I too over thunk it. I ended up removing the brass fitting and sliding in the nylon tubing to "make sure" it was all the way in.

Need Some Quick Info On Valve Block Replacement

These are compression fittings. You need to unscrew the brass fittings from the valve block and throw away the white plastic air line. Fit the new brass fitting on your current air lines and feed the air line about 3mm past the brass fitting, and mount it back normally. That's it.

    Snow chains recommendations

Most tires are marked with m+s for mud and snow rated tires. The LR4 is full time 4x4 and in California we have R1-R3 snow conditions. Chains are required for all vehicles in R3 conditions. 4x4 with snow rated tires are ok for R1 and R2 conditions. If you're truly concerned, get snow tires or...

    Quick Compressor Replacement Question

If you take off the compressor cover (3 bolts), you can tell which compressor it is. A big flat shiny bottom plate is amk. From other forums, the hitachi compressor is better and serviceable. Both new units come with the drier. I recently refreshed my system too and replaced it with the same...

    2016 LR4 - Genuine Trailer Harness help

You don't have to pull the bumper cover off. Just drop the wires straight down and plug in the routed trailer plug coming in from the tow cover. They connect at the corner of that bumper and has plastic fasteners to secure it.

    Overall height with frontrunner?

What's your maximum height limit? Maybe work from there. I have a Frontrunner Slimline II rack. I also have the SYA kit installed and I can no longer get down to access height. I went through a 6' 10" garage and was probably 2" - 4" from hitting a structural concrete beam. There are variances...

    Higher output alternator?

Use a mini fuse tap with the top of F60 as the main +12V feed. Meaning the position of the mini fuse tap is important. Also, make sure you don't bridge the main F60 top and bottom by leaving the main mini fuse tap blank. Use a multimeter or 12V light tester to be sure of live wires and polarity.

    Higher output alternator?

I've done this before I used to go on my off road trips to get a constant 13.8V charge and it will trigger my battery isolator to close for charging my secondary battery. Otherwise, voltage will drop and open the battery isolator, and my secondary battery and accessories die. I get a warning...

    Higher output alternator?

My electrician buddy said its doable. I was going to do this where I simply stick the resistor into the the 2 prong wire and find the correct resistor that'll trick the system to give the proper voltage I want. I'm pretty sure anything bewteen 14.3V-14.7V is perfect. I ended up getting a dc-dc...
