AJ126 SCv6 Supercharger Oil
Doing the coolant pipes on 2016 L405 HSE that I just bought, AJ126 (SCV6) and only able to drain approx 3oz out of the SC. Approx same amount came out of our 2015 LR4 Lux with same engine/SC. I'm reading 5.1oz needs to go back in when changing fluid, anyone able to get anywhere near 5oz out... -
All the problems happening!
TPMS module changed out, so that is now working! Low coolant warning is not going away so tried to bleed and broke the plastic tee. Ended up ordering new coolant expansion tank and bleeder tee. Pulled interior A pillar trim to fix those too. Lots of progress! -

Troubleshooting coolant vacuum fill failure
I am so sick of this car. I finally got the leak fixed and was able to confirm that the system could hold a vacuum, then I vacuum filled the coolant, and then confirmed that the system could hold pressure too. At idle, coolant temp is normal for about 45 minutes, then overheating rapidely. I can't monitor actual temperatures of ECT1 and ECT2 because no communications via the OBD socket . -
Thermostat to water pump outlet connector
That broken off piece would stay stuck in the coolant pump. Even if it made it into the cooling system, it would be pulverized in no time.- Rover Range

2015 LR4 Head Gasket Replacement
$8k for that coolant work and control arms replacement seems outrageous to me. The coolant system work should have been like $3k-4k. What do control arms run $1500 or so? Shops do charge lot for head gaskets, but I’d do my own compression test first. This place might just be trying to rip... -

dreaded coolant level warning
Order an aftermarket coolant cap and epoxy/ silicone an air compressor ****** onto it. Dial your compressor up to 25-30 psi and start spraying soapy water on everything.- scapistron

I know I sound like a broken record, but test for exhaust gases in coolant before doing anything else. Don't waste any money or time until you rule out head gasket issues. -

Proper coolant direction for the Supercharger
Neither, it is based on the electric coolant pump. Coolant exit at the supercharger radiator upper connection (item 5), then enters on top of the electric pump connection, to continue through the supercharger cooler. Cooland enters the supercharger radiator lower connection (item 7) to flow up. -

I would have replaced my engine after I bought it in '23, but I didn't need one. You probably bought it with the coolant problem preexisting. The LR4's are all worth more in actuality than they are on paper and that is a good thing because it brings the cost down. In my case from $60k MSRP 13...- powershift

Crazy to consider new engine in a 2016 LR4?
I've been there and done it. A well sorted LR4 is worth a lot more to us here than the general public. Test the coolant for combustion gasses. V8 defenders with EAS are around 60k still. I6 are down to 35k.- scapistron

Agreed, if the reservoir really got low enough to suck in air, simply adding coolant will never burp the bubble - re-evacuate and refill as appropriate. Hopefully your added dye is OK - personally I don't care what any additives CLAIM - I use them only when desperate, only those that claim... -

Head gasket leak symptoms
LR4 is over 110k miles starting to smell a 50/50 coolant and exhaust smell coming from the exhaust but I don’t know if it’s just in my head. Not seeing bubbling in the coolant tank. Does anyone know of any sure fire signs of a head gasket leak on a LR4?- Rovermanroverman

Thanks for your note and follow-up @Rendak . Perhaps I lost the plot or am just thick...but what is your conclusion? A loose lower radiator hose would not drain coolant into your Engine sump.....so I am trying to connect that hose with your oil pan.- Land Rover Joe

2012 LR4 coolant leak
Can you tell where it is leaking from when you attempt to fill? Maybe you're "lucky" and it's just the coolant expansion tank that failed. But generally, a coolant low warning is indicative of a more serious issue, especially if the condition of the cooling system is unknown. -

2011 5.0 head gaskets
I think if your head gasket is failing you should be able to detect that by testing the coolant for combustion byproducts. I got a tester to do this, but have yet to do it, because I too have slow coolant loss and recently refreshed cooling system (now several years old) but only 25k miles... -

The way is to pressure test it and look for leaks. If you used the Land Rover brand coolant then get a black light and it will reflect like blood on Forensic Files. I don't think any other manufacturer does that lol.- powershift

Coolant Temps
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but the thermostat is only influence by the coolant temp, nothing else. The top radiator hose on my 2015 LR4 takes about 20 minutes to get very hot, indicating an open thermostat.
