Lessons Learned Rebuilding 5.0 V8 2012 LR4 Engine
You can remove the heads with the engine still in the truck. However, given all of the potential work, I would just pull the whole thing and put it on an engine stand. That way, if there is an issue with the short block or rotating assembly, it will be easier to work on.- Michael Gain

Front Wheel Bearings - Question
Normally the castle nut would use a cotter pin to prevent loosening of the axle nut. Hence, no staking required. But, I don't remember our axles having a hole to insert a cotter pin into. I'm sure it's fine. Someone much smarter than me designed it- Michael Gain

Ordered a new vacuum line and air sensor. When cleaned with MAF cleaner, dirty liquid poured out (probably oil or the CRC cleaner. I'm also eying the temp sensor on the front of the intake. I believe that it is still low, but I did not take a screen shot when I measured it... It's a great point though and I will grab some data tomorrow. I do have another theory. Thank you for the sanity check! The only other weird thing I saw today was the passenger side MAF connector. It doesn't look corroded, but definitely like it could use a cleaning. I couldn't figure out how to release the terminals though. More fun for me tomorrow I guess lol- Michael Gain

Quick update. In tank fuel pump and filter install went well and may have solved the problem (knock on wood). I finished the work on Saturday and did a short drive to the gas station on Sunday. What did you do with your Lr4 Today?

Replaced rear diff pinion seal, drive shaft and breather

The BMS would set a code and alert you on the driver display as a "charging system fault". It sounds like a parasitic drain somewhere. You would think that they would welcome the local sale so they didn't have to bother with the nationwide shipping nightmare. To be honest, I replaced the fuel purge valve in one of our LR4s, but I do not remember which one... It will throw a code if faulty though. I may remove it and push smoke back through the fuel purge valve line; just to see what happens- Michael Gain

Good suggestion. I have a smoke tester. But, it showed no leak the last time I tested the intake and vacuum system. Granted, I tested on a cold engine. I may try again on a warm engine to see if expansion is creaking a leak.- Michael Gain

Coincidentally, i have been watching that thread lol. It's a weird frustrating issue. I thought I could correlate it to the rear a.c., but that was a fluke.
