Why do american trucks get much better mpg that the lr4?
I'm back in the city now and my mpg dropped to 12 MPG. Totally acceptable for me, although gas here is a $1 more per gallon at $3.60 for 87 octane. I have yet to buy premium gas.- powershift

In Las Vegas I was quoted over $500 mo for car insurance for a new Defender. Stupid prices. I haven't had an accident in 28 years, no tickets in probably over 10 years now.- powershift

Batteries
While in the city I don't use a charger, but when overlanding I'm pretty much living out of it and keep the charger for a few hours daily. Its minor effort to prevent running down the battery. Which would you rather?
Rat traps for mice! They are big white tail mice out there in the Mohave with occasional rats. I've probably caught 50+ of them after mastering the technique. In the forest I use actual mice traps since they are much smaller creatures.- powershift

It turns out the 17.x MPG figure was from a round trip to Vegas but I recalled it also included a one-way trip down to the Colorado River that I didn't remember initially. I've been buying all my batteries at Oriellies (sp) for over a decade. Whatever brand they sell they stand by throughout the mfg warranty period at the front counter. I started putting highway miles on my LR4 that doesn't include driving over a big grade and at 76 MPH 3hr round trip I saw 17.x MPG today when filling up. I was pretty amazed to see that tbh. When I got my LR4 in July 2023 w/97k mi I changed the oil then ran it hard _on the street and freeway keeping the revs high in the RPM range where the power is. They could be guide pins, they need to be drilled out or cut off. I don't have the tools so it looks like I'll need to replace it.
